So I've been building some FW stuff recently, only I've found that applying the araldite has been a real pain in the arse. I've been using cardboard strips and just kinda lathering it on, but this just seems like a generally sub-par method, as it makes a real mess and is really inefficient. If anyone has any advice on how they do it, would be much appreciated.

Surly using pins and superglue would be easier

But if I had to use epoxy then it be using a small spatula or putty tool with a damp cloth to wipe off the excess.

I've used araldite a couple of times only and that was for a metal Hive Tyrant. I used a strip of cardboard for mixing and a toothpick for applying it.

Never again, just use pins and super glue.

Cut up bits of sprues, cut them so they have a sharp-ish point for precision work.

The trick with 5 minute araldite is use the first minute purely for mixing, then wait a couple more minutes before applying so that when you've ready to clamp it together it's just about to go off.

Araldite + pins makes for a really good joint even on heavy metal parts.

The only real downside I've had with araldite is you can only really do one joint at a time, so it takes a long time to glue together a big complex model. But it's still the best thing for those load bearing joints.

I just use a match stick for stirring and application.

I agree with the above, nothing can beat it for the really heavy old metal kits like dreadnoughts etc. I wouldn't like to try and super glue + pin above the horizontal claw arms and open hatch of the 2nd edition 40k ork dreadnought for example
