In a determination to embrace the changes of technology, and with a belief that 3d printers will be the next mobile phones in terms of explosion of use and popularity (not to mention scale of possibilities,) I decided to treat myself to an Anycubic Photon 3d printer. Possibly not the best place to start for an absolute novice, but after many, many failed prints, I am finally getting the hang of it. On thingiverse, I have found an abundance of fantastic files for Horus Heresy style models, and so decided to embark on a new HH army. I am only going to use 3d printed files, but will allow myself to use my bits box, so as not to waste either bits I have, or resin. I am going to try my best to keep it all in mkii armour. It will be a slow project, as I don't have much hobby time anymore (the perfect time to basically start a new hobby) and I am trying to paint a large Slaanesh AoS army, which is actually getting onto the gaming table.

So, I have decided on World Eaters, due to being easy to paint, and Khorne Berzerkers being my original army back from 2nd ed days. I found a great file for out rider bikes, and another for a servitor piloted side car for attack bikes. So I am going to start with those...

supports cleaned off and based.

it's amazing how much different they look, even with just one coat of primer

Some paint

Not much for now, but enough to give you an idea. Transfers and weathering next. The army will basically comprise of lots of fast moving infantry; assault troops and bikes, supported by attack bikes and a gunline of rapiers and dreadnoughts. A lot of this is printed already, but needs cleaning and basing. As soon as I have gotten more confident with it, I'll be buying an ender5, and will look into adding some more tank sized units.

Cheers for now.

Wow, that is a pretty great print. It's pretty wild what these things can do now. And they are only going to get better. I'm definitely interested in seeing how this goes for you.

I am hoping to get myself a printer or two in the next couple years. I'm not in a hurry because I don't have the time, money or space at the moment, but I think in the near future those won't be much of an issue.

Cheers all. Stalled a bit as my superglue nozzle snapped off in the lid

@H, the anycubic photon really doesn't take up too much space, half a cheap IKEA desk is all my set up takes. Highly recommend one when you decide to take the jump.

Cleaned up and based today. Will try and prime them tonight and get some base layers on tomorrow. I treat myself to the fw world eaters transfer sheet as well today, so can finish the ones I've started.

Oh, no worry there, I mean, I have a whole outside shop area, which is over 1,000 square feet, but it needs some fixing up and finishing. So, I have the space in theory, just not a space ready to be a work area, or printer area, just yet. The nice thing is that, while I work on all the finishing aspects in there, printers will likely get better/cheaper in the meantime!

First tactical marine finished, and the first model completed. Intentionally abit rough and ready, as befits world eaters;

Overall pretty pleased. Quick and easy, looks good at a table top distance. Hope you like. As I've said, might be slow going, but there will be lots to come

Slow progress on the bikes, but they are getting painted. In the mean time, the rest of the tactical squad printed and cleaned up, with a few extras in the background;

Thanks for looking

Isn't 3D printing fantastic??!! I have had my FDM Ender 3 Pro for quite a while and got an Elegoo Mars resin printer a couple of months ago and I have been running it non-stop since. The Ender is for bigger items using the filament, but the resin is just so great at minis, it really blows my mind. I really like what you are doing and it shows that for a fraction of the cost you can build a huge army - GDub take note and better lower your prices!!

Getting that momentum going. The bikes are looking great. I am looking forward to seeing how the assault troops turn out.

@ MDSW I'm absolutely loving it so far, really is a hobby revolution. After Christmas I'll be buying an ender5. Think I'll need the simpler construction, but really looking forward to getting into fdm printing, and making some tanks to roll alongside the infantry

@youwashock cheers bud, I'll post an update on the bikes soon.
