Wasn't sure where to out this.

Would anyone have an issue with an opponent using this model as a 40K Mark of Slaanesh CSM Sorcerer?

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Chaos-Sorcerer-Lord-2016

If it is ok, which base should it go on?

That should be fine - stick a backpack and a holstered pistol on him if you're feeling adventurous (but with most of these things - double-check with your opponent or TO first). The only issue I can think of is if you're running R&H alongside CSM, and have non-CSM psykers as well.

The new CSM Sorcerer is on a 40mm Round Base.

That model does not have a datasheet in 40k, so technically (RAW) you can not use it.

However Rule of cool seems to be something a lot of people play by, so you may be able to use it in games.

When in doubt ask your opponent or TO because this is not something anyone on the internet is going to be able to give you an answer on that is worth anything.

I mean, they can give a better answer than one saying conversions aren’t allowed... but I agree that only your opponent can OK your conversions. Most people are fine with appropriate conversions.

If anyone objected to a decent conversion of that model with a CSM backpack slapped on then they’re not worth playing, tbh.

I've considered using this as a 40K sorcerer myself, and it's been done before, with varying levels of conversion:

that model is fine, its about the right size and looks like a sorcerer. In reality (not the internet) no one is gong to query it in a game

Removed - Rule #1 please

Conversions and kitbashing are a core tenet of this hobby. You don’t need to check with anyone.

Out of date soapboxing is out of date. GW regularly features converting and kitbashing articles on WHC and in White Dwarf.

I personally love seeing models reappropriated for other purposes. I saw a lovely conversion of the Sylvanneth tree spirit to a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, the logic being that she was the chief gardener of Slaanesh's pleasure gardens. I've been using the old Iron Warriors War Smith as alternatively a Warpsmith and Hellwright, as the list demands. So far everyone's been cool - as long as it's thematically appropriate and a good conversion, full steam ahead!

Go for it. Anyone who says it isn't a chaos sorcerer and you can't use it is someone you probably won't enjoy playing with anyway.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.

7 (8!) year ITC tournament veteran here (which might not play out in the UK, where you're at): but Rule of Cool will be absolutely fine with this model.

Once you're at a Top Table for a GT, then maybe a douche will harp on it, but if *I* am there, I pledge to personally knee-cap that guy for you.

srsly, the only time this ought to matter is in Top Table spots at GTs, and then you *might* need to replace the model with a WYSIWG model.

But, you wouldn't want to live up to that level of donkey-cave, wouldja?

Better to slum with the 4-2 guys, or 2-4 guys and be half drunk, right?

Seeing as that too is a GW model of roughly the same size you should be good to go, just make sure to give him the correct base size. Many Ork players use the AoS shaman as weirdboyz too, for looks or because it can be store bought.
