Hi

How and when do you get CP?

Is there a way to maxemice commandtraits and artefacts?

Can the same spell be cast by more then one wizard each turn?

I am a dyslectic, so bear with me.

Download the WH AoS app on your smartphone. The app contains all of the core rules which will answer most of your questions. It also contains every warscroll in the game with proper errata for free.

You get 1 cp at the start of your Hero phase each battle round. As a base, that's all you get. You also start the game with 1 extra CP for each Battalion in your army, and you can purchase them when building your list for 50 points each. You dont need to spend them the same turn you get them, you can save them up.

There's generally never a way to get more than 1 command trait. You get an extra artifact for each Battalion in your army.

No, the same spell can only be attempted once in each hero phase.

A bunch of books have ways to get additional command traits. Hedonites, Skaven and S2D all have ways, from the top of my head.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I thought that could be the case, so hedged my bets with the "generally"!

It's not possible for many armies though.

So what is a battalion?

Is it 1 leader, and 3 battlelines?

So if I have 2 leaders and 6 battlelines I count as two battalions?

There are also battalions that costs points and come with other requierments that give the units in that battalion a bonus?

If my army is Ogros with the meastfist mawtribe I must first give an artifact the gut-plate of Ghur? Second artifact can be anything I want? And there are rules for mounts that I get for free, and I would end up getting two of them (page 78) asuming I have heroes that can use them?

I must use the command abillaty the meatfist mawtribe provide (food for thought) and I get the command abillaty for free?

Also, can I heal up a unit even when whole models are dead?

But you can not take 2 heroes nd 6 battlelines and get more of the good stuff like you can in 40K? Even the cheap formations seems rather exspensive for what they : a small bonus, an artefact and a mount abillaty.

But so many of the traits are locked ik once you choose a subfction. It seems counter intuetive.

I explained Battalions in more detail in the Ogor thread. But yes, taking a Battalion is a big commitment and it is not always worth taking any at all.

You do not need to take a sub faction, then you have free access to all of the army's traits and artefacts.

Command points alone cost 50pts. So buying a battalion has that baked into it. Meaning a 120pt battalion is really a 50pt command point, additional artifact, and 70pt battalion that gives the ability/abilities shown AND lets you drop everything within it in one shot. That’s quite a lot for 70pts. And that’s while treating the artifact as free!! I used to feel Battalions weren’t worth it and I’d rather have more troops on the ground. I’ve changed my mind.

It does depend on the army though. Theres a big imbalance between armies.

I play Legions of Nagash for example, and they don't really have any Battalions that don't require massive commitment. Taking any is a huge burden on your list. That's not to say they aren't worth it, but they essentially dictate you're entire army.

Other armies on the other hand have Battalions that can be as cheap as 400 points to fill out, such as Nighthaunt. The discrepancy here I think is a major design issue for Sigmar.

Ogors aren't too bad. You can take Kin Eaters Bully Boys for 600 points including units, and they're all fairly standard units. They have a couple of other mid level Battalions.

Generally though, I'd say have one Battalion is usually worth it but two outside of very specific armies is probably not.

The exception to the rule is the new Ossiarch Bonereapers as they generate Relentless Discipline points which are the same but you get quite a few and some units use them for abilities not just heroes.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
To be honest I have a question regards upgrading units. Take Mortek guard for example. One model can be the Hekatos and get an extra attack. One model can have the soulreaper blade ( I forget the name but the double handed special weapon) per 10 models. Can therefore one model be both Hekatos and receive the special weapon and therefore have (in this case) x3 attacks with this weapon not x2 as standard because it is the Hekatos?

Depends on the wording. But there are inconsistencies. For instance, as the rules are written you can make the same model musician and standard bearer, but convention says they are different models.
