Hey Everyone

It is well know that every hobbyist sooner or later ends up with a pile of plastic/resin/metal pile of shame.. I'm sure my pile of shame is not as big as most peoples and its pretty well organised.

Long story short I had a Maugun Ra I bought dirt cheap on ebay; Never painted never glued pretty much as new.. Got him for like £6! Bargain!
And now he's gone... Vanished... He was living in my desk drawer along with my other bits and bobs and I must have accidentally chucked him out when doing some Christmas cleaning. Its the only thing that makes sense. I have checked everywhere. This makes me quite sad...

Its the first time I have ever lost an entire model.

Anyone else "lost" stuff ??

Yup. A few in house moves that I must've left behind. Most notable (and annoying) is the Forgeworld Games Day Slann that I had in his Palanquin and everything. Gone, vanished into The Warp to never be seen again.

Had a friend who also lost a whole carry case of Blood Bowl minis. We found out what happened to them when someone found one in the street. The house me and couple of mates had been living in had been broken into (we say that, it was more someone left the door unlocked....) the thief took the key, the carry case; thinking it was something valuable (well, it was. Just not to him. Those BB minis at the time had been OOP for a while) and much to the annoyance of my housemate, his jar of coffee.

I've bought some minis only to forget I own them (mostly happened to some highelf stuff that I bought, started and then never finished and went into a box); but by and large I've never lost a whole miniature that I know of.

I did lose a genestealer to a husky one time - its legs were rather mangled when found

And I've lost one or two models when I've been assembling them, left the bits on a desk and someone has "helped clean up" only to sweep some small parts and toss them out (thankfully only once or twice!)

If I have lost any whole models then I've lost the memory of owning them too!

Two models I can think of: first was a brand new full metal Bloodthirster (I think my roommate’s girlfriend at the time threw it out, she was psychotic), and the second was a SM apothecary who disappeared off the table never to be seen again.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Had something similar, my entire 2nd Edition Eldar list was in one of the old egg crate foam cases in the boot of my car. At least, that's where it should have been, but I discovered it on the stairs of the car park as I returned after an evening's gaming. Much like those BB minis, I guess the scrotes thought the case looked valuable but not the contents as they'd discarded it opened but unharmed. Got back to find my speakers gone too and spent the next few hours at the police station. Turns out cars manufactured in the 80s didn't have particularly sophisticated locks. Who knew?

Not a miniature per se, but in my youth, I managed to mislay my rather excellent Ford Escort Mk2 Scalextrix car. I loved that thing and I couldn't for the life of me find it ever again. To this day, I am convinced a local 'friend' pinched it.

Same though for me it was a Red Viper. Though I never know what happened to it at all. I don't recall it being pinched nor loaned to someone - it just sort of "vanished" and I could never find it. More likely it got left at a friends house or loned without remembering etc....

I use to move houses a lot. During a move, one of the boxes had a full 6th edition Orc&Golbin army (about 2k), a small Bretonnian army (about 1k, including a full unit of those cool metal Foot Knights) as well as other random Warhammer stuff (notably, old Gotrek&Felix sculpts + their first 7 books or a unit of Everqueen Maiden Guards).

That box vanished never to be seen again.

I'd 'forgotten' about that in the wildly unlikely 'and then as if by magic it appeared' scenario

Yep, an entire Redemptionist gang just up and wandered off, never to be seen again.

I'm fairly sure the ex-wife mistakenly shipped them with a Tyranid army I sold, but she vehemently denied this.

I moved houses a lot when younger.

During one such house move, had a box of (3rd edition) WHFB metal wood elf army go missing from the front porch in 1995.

(Unloaded truck to porch - as truck was a limited time hire. Then moved porch contents into house. Came back for last box of miniatures, and it was goooooone.)

I lose things all the time unfortunately, being a somewhat disorganized person. And by somewhat I mean extremely.

Sometimes it can lead to nice finds, where i discover something i painted 15 years ago that i thought had been lost forever hiding in a box that's otherwise filled with post it notes or something similar.

One of my metal SM scouts is missing and 4 of the ones that look like Goliath gangers with a height deficiency. They’ll be at my parents house somewhere, but I’ll be damned if I can find them.

the hull of a 1/35th scale Pz IV dropped while cleaning mould lines in the living room and it vanished, I have no idea where it went and searched for it for days, moved all the furniture etc

it's not as if it's small and easily missed, but no gone, I blame ghosts

and when I was a lot younger a substantial chunk of my painted halflng horde (early gw metal ones) vanished from my parents house at some point when I was away at uni & popping backwards and forwards to visit

could still be there tidied away somewhere 'sensible/safe'
could have been thrown away

but seems unlikely as my folks wouldn't have done it deliberately and some of it was still there and if they had i'd expect everything to have gone

could have been stolen by one of the friends who visited me/my brothers (or even them)

again seems unlikely they were all fairly trustworthy and again why leave the rest?

whatever happened I've never seen them again

2 Years ago i built up a hellbrute multikit and stored away the spare parts. Fast forward to today, I was looking for the spare heads to do conversions and i cannot find any of the spare hellbrute parts. The only part i did find was the horned frame that surrounds the head area. I somehow got this feeling i might have accidentally threw the parts away during a cleaning session thinking it was an empty box =(

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I once bought a bunch of 2nd release Orlock and Goliath models, and put them away for later. They got lost, and after looking for them everywhere I started to wonder if I had ever actually bought them in the first place.

Found them quite a while later.

This event was one of my three signs that you have too much Warhammer, the other two being when you sit down to build 20 Assault Marines and somehow end up with 30, and when you accidentally buy a Land Raider.

I lost a Chaos Reaver Titan and two Warhounds, pretty sure it was a housemate that "moved them". A lot of stuff disappeared before he was evicted.

I was playing a tournament in the middle of a general gaming event. About 5 of my fully painted space marines were stolen 1 by one until I caught the "unattended youth" grabbing the fifth, I was unaware at the time of the other 4 missing as well before I released him with a stern talking to.

I was unable to continue playing due to not having the models.

I guess "lost" is not quite correct but it IS bad when you cannot seem to notice models you spent what seemed like forever to complete missing.

Most notable is the 'squirrel story', for me. It's the only permanently lost model I own.

I had a Forge World Thunderbolt Pilot. I had him out in my garage, primed, with the garage door open to let it ventilate(as ya do!) alongside of the blower running on my spray booth.
Came back after 20 minutes, pilot was gone alongside of the shiny washer that he was glued to and squirrel prints were in the overspray. I keep hoping to find him one day in the woods near my house, having finally escaped out of a squirrel nest.

I lost a guardsman once. Just one.

From the catachan command box. The bloke standing on a skull. Just *poof* vanished into thin air one day. I'll be right buggered if I know where he is now. Where ever he is though, he's got a bloody sniper rifle with him!

Maybe the squirrel was putting together a thunderbolt of their own, and they only needed that one last piece!

Decades ago when members of my gaming group were still living at home we started a Bloodbowl league. I had a team of Elves, a team of Orcs and a team of Halflings all painted up and stored in old egg containers. They were over at a friends place and his mother tossed the lot.

Cheers,
