Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read this! Just picked up.some death guarD, but im not a huge fan of the bright purple tentacles that i see most death guard have. I can see its a good color for some contrast to the green but it just doesnt fit nurgle in my mind, as its doesnt make a very good canvas for boils and infections and gross stuff. Im looking for a sickly flesh color, to have some sickly yellows in places as well as the carroburg crimson and druuchi violet in inflamed wounds. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I am seriously terrible at figuring out how people make the color buildup they do, so it is hard for me to reverse engineer it from a picture. Any help is much appreciated! To be honest this is giving me anxiety because i want to finish them but dont want them to look like crap lol.

The fact that my username is PurplexNurgling is a total major coincidence and was made a long time ago XD turns out purple nurglings dont look so good..

I aim for a 'sickly flesh' on my Guardsmen/Renegades/Neophyte Hybrids using Army Painter Corpse Pale, a wash of Druchii Violet and a (very dry) drybrush of Corpse Pale.

I know you said it wasn't what you like, but hear us out. This is how I do my Nurgle Tentacley bits (and other bits like wing membranes).

Start with a base of vallejo royal purple. Then drybrush evil sunz scarlet then finish with a drybrush of vallejo iraqi sand (aka ushabti bone). Wash the whole thing (I wash the entire model with this at this stage after blocking in colours) with vallejo smokey ink watered down to your liking then finish with watered down Nurgle's rot.

It gives you something like this. Though keep in mind the flash was on when I took those pics so the effect is a bit more subtle IRL.

i would try a yellow ochre base then a wash of red over the top to give a muted orange. go over boils & such with bleached bone, wash with yellow then add a circle of red around the bottom of each one.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
