Hey guys, my LGS is hold a 1000 point campaign in Feb. I have started a OBR army and just have Arch-Kavalos Zandtos painted. At this point I am most likely not going to hit 1000 by then. I have been told however to aim for 750.

This campaign is designed to have each player build up to 2000 points. Winning is important but learning about my army and having fun is my objective.

This being said, I Have been advised to get two units of Kavalos Deathriders, due to my hero.

Could you guys confirm if this is a good start or should I go another route?

Its difficult to do Bonereapers wrong. You can build them decent, or disgusting. Cavalry focused will not be disgusting, so if you are wanting to stomp people then go another route. But it should still be decent.

To keep it plain and simple, you can basically take anything from the book and it will do well.

They are currently the top tier book and nothing is really “bad” in that book.
Everything is from good to absurd.

Run them as petrefex and it starts to push to boundaries.



Honestly, you’ll win games but if you build it towards the top end of the scale (mortek blocks with harvesters etc) you’ll likely lose friends.

I could do two blocks of 20 MG but that is a lot to paint in a short time so the lower the model count the better right now.

Do you have access to any type of unit that could be held in reserve/outflank/etc?
Alot of forces have something like that with the stipulation of "Must be brought into play by the end of turn/movement phase x or count as destroyed".

If so, pay the points for them so you hit your 1k pts, put them in reserve, & simply never bring them into the game. Thus not really needing to have finished models for them right at first.
Plus I doubt people would mind fighting less Ossiarchs.... Though it might make winning the initial matches harder on you.

No, i do get your point and a good one at that but I do need to have my units on the board.
