Hey all! Followed Duncan cadian scheme loosely for these vehicles. Does anyone have any suggestions for weathering tutorials? Im looking for light to medium wear. Nothing crazy. Thanks for looking!

First get some make-up sponges, soft brushes, weathering powder from FW or online, I suggest dark brown, light brown, rust, black, maybe green for your dry powder colors.

You can use a brush and apply a dark brown(rhinox hide) or black onto your sponge, dab a bit on a paper towel to make it consistent before apply to areas of ware like edge of track guard, steps, hood, grill; then apply a bit of chainmail and dab over the dark areas you’ve just dab with black/dark brown but leaving some of it shown. You can skip this if you’re hesitant to mess up.

With dry powders, it’s very easy, just apply to where you want the powder, dark in crease areas, around the gun barrels, exhaust; dark brown on the tracks and around the track guard; light brown around the lower portion of the vehicle and steps; rust on the exhaust pipes, vents. Lightly spray a coat of matte varnish to seal it. You can use a clean brush to lighten areas you might of gone overboard, or wash it off completely prior to varnishing.

Get a pencil and rub it along edges for nice wear.

As it's a vehicle I'd use an oil to dry stipple muck around exhaust areas. My favourite at the minute is starship filth from abteilung 502.

I'd use a streaking fluid to make some streaks on your downward surfaces. I'd recommend winter streaking fluid from ak interactive.

As mentioned above, you can't go wrong with dry powders.

Thanks guys. thats some good info really fast. Maybe ill spring for a couple of powders. Do you know if the pots they sell will last for an entire small army (2000-2500pts)? Also are they brush on like the GW basing paint (aggaros dunes, etc)

Powders will last for ages. Ive had pots for about 5 or 6 years and they've still got tons left in them. Granted I'm not doing armies but most of my models do feature powders on the bases, and I've done larger scale dioramas with them too. A nice light earth powder is always a good investment. I also have a black soot powder, a rust powder, the green forge world powder and a dark russian earth one too. They're all from different brands, so just pick one you like that will work with your theme. Eg, if you're basing your army on a desert base, buying a dark earth powder probably wouldn't be the best fit.

Just go on a scale hobby site, buy a powder, an enamel streaking fluid from AK interactive, and an oil from abteilung, and try them out. Should cost about $15. They'll up your vehicle painting game no end.

Tpiddy. If you like Duncans way of doing things have you seen his how to paint: battle damage and weathering video? It helped me a lot with doing basic weathering.
