I'm digesting the KOW 3e rules, and have my head around most of the changes. But I don't get Devastated at all. The only situation in which I can see this applying is on a snake-eyes Nerve result. Is that all it is? Or is there some other way units can get that much damage and still survive? I understand the rule, I just don't understand why it's there.

Yes, that's it.

It is an edge case, but it exists to reduce combat effectiveness of units which should have routed, but were saved by luck. As this has happened to me twice in the past, I suspect I'll benefit from this new rule.

There are also a couple of situations where a unit can get more would markers than it has nerve without having to take a nerve test. Soul Drain, Bloodbound, Blood of the Old King etc.

Mantic has, as far as I can tell, tried to reduce reported negative play experience. Like making so many shooting units irregular to curb the spam.
It sounds small, but devastated makes double ones feel better, which I think was the idea.

OK, that makes it make more sense. Thanks!
