It is a bit of a rare thing but i got ahold of this free game called battle tactics (it's a free download from the company) many years ago from the forces of valor toy company . a super fast and simple skirmish game with a whole 6 pages of rules.

it was designed for 1:32 scale but can be down-scaled for use with smaller scales like flames of war.

most of the germans were actual high quality FOV or unimax toys.

It was harder to find the russian infantry and i went cheap on the slightly off scale t-34/85s since i needed 4 of them.

The game also has limited overwatch makng it very involved for both players.

the early game looked this way

The BF 109 got shot off the table by some lucky small arms fire. since the system uses a loiter value roll to represent damage, limited fuel and ammo.

In the end it didn't save the russians . damage was done to the whirblewind and panther, both loosing crew. however the russian player failed to use his mobility to flank and paid for it. several infantry on both sides were hit as well.

Very swish!

I recall when these WWII toys were on the shelves of local Big Box retailers.

They are still around but harder to find, still kinda spendy. it's like $40-70 for the good ones because they are metal with moving parts and high detail. ....which is why i bought the cheep $10 T34s as i needed 4 of them

a couple guys at the shop are using the battle tactics rules for flames of war minis downsizing all the movement/ranges by half and increasing the scale of the game as it is alot faster than actual FOW.

I would be tempted to use Battlegroup rules.....
