Hey guys!

First post in here but I've been lurking for a long time now. Figured I might as well start a log for my WIP projects, maybe I'll some day manage to shorten my massive backlog If someone hangs around at B&C you might've seen my Templars if you've wandered off to the zealous part of town.

But yeah on to some pictures, starting off with my Black Templars:

First up is my version of everyone's favourite High Marshal: Helbrecht himself!

Primaris Chaplain

A Castellan and a few Intercessors

Another Castellan

I've also started working on my Word Bearers but only have pictures of my prototype possessed:

Another project that I've started is Tempestus kill team that will expand to an army hopefully. And I've always loved kasrkins so I've gone for a similar style, here's a meltagunner of mine:

That's all for tonight but I'll keep updating this thread when I get some work done or some other pictures. Cheers and C&C welcome!

That‘s a nice batch of pictures for your first post. Great work on the edge highlighting on the templars and amazing green stuff work. Excited to see more!

Thanks for the kind words!

A small update:

Been testing some alternate looks for the intercessors since the basic design is a bit too bland. What do you think?

Thank you!

Here's a small update, getting a full squad built up slowly:

Back with an update. I bought a huge load of marines last week and received the package this week:

I then realized I can't really use Guilliman/other Ultramarines with my Templars and there's waaaay too many marines in this haul. I also don't really wanna go full smurf so this is the perfect time to make my own custom chapter, Ultramarines successors ofc (tons of Ultramarines iconography in there, too much work to get rid of them. )
So here's my first WIP test marine, what do you guys think?:

Not too fond of the white on this guy yet, might go for Ulthuan grey as the main color for the upcoming ones.

That is one large pile o marines! You’re well stocked for the apocalypse now.

Cool colour scheme you’re developing. I think your plan for grey as the shade on the white would look better for sure. I reckon a starker edge highlight on the purple would look good too. The blue eye lens is a bit lost on the purple side, red or maybe green might stand out more?

Haha yeah won't need to go shopping for a while

Thanks for the input, I've began painting a chapter champion now and changed to a colder white with grey shading and I like the result more. I also tried both green and red for the lenses and I think red pops out more so that's what I'm using now.

Will hopefully have an update this evening!

Okay here's the Chapter champion I'm currently working on:

Most of the colors are done but no highlights and such for the metallics yet. And lots of cleanup to do ofc

EDIT: And a few kinda bad comparison pics with the tactical:

The white looks much better! What paints did you use? The champions gold looks brighter too, or is it just a trick or the camera? Will the shoulder icon be going white or gold?

It's Celestra grey base followed by Ulthuan grey, then recess shaded with really thinned down Celestra Grey and Dawnstone. Edge highlights with White Scar. Seeing them live the gold is pretty much the same, the champion just has so much more of it so might make it seem "shinier." Also Still not sure what color the icon will be as I haven't been thinking too hard about the chapter iconography/colors/name etc yet.. perhaps I should

Hey guys, I've been working on some basic troops + ancient + apothecary for my custom chapter during the last weekend. Think I also have a name for the chaper finally: Umbral Wardens.

I was thinking of edge highlighting every marine but I've realized it takes way too long considering the size of my backlog, so I had to lean on drybrushing on some of them

Update time! My second tactical squad is now ready for some paint. I've also begun work on the Chapter Master of the Umbral Wardens. In my mind the chapter values tactics/strategy above all else so I made him a floating "command table."

Not really sure if he looks enough like a chapter master though. I will greenstuff a cloak for him, they always help right? Might also swap the helmet for another one.
Any suggestions?

Not really. Maybe a cloak would add more grandiosity, but it's a nifty conversion as it is.

Also appreciating the quartered scheme. The purple and white are well-chosen and well-applied.

I think he looks great and very chapter mastery! A cloak would be fine but i don't think he needs too much more.

Thanks for the comments guys! I have a minor update for now, I currently have begun painting 2 squads of 10 tacticals, a venerable dreadnought, a captain and the chapter master for my Umbral Wardens. Will update with pictures once they're closer to complete, they look a little rough atm.

But I do also have another update! I'm the type of person who can't just sit and paint all those models without doing anything else. So I started working on an idea that I've had for a long time now: AN INQUISITOR:

As you can hopefully see, he's an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor that I can basically use for any of my Imperial armies, if I ever get to actually playing that is
What do people think?

Wow! He looks really cool, the GS work is great, but the losing of him reaching over his shoulder for his sword is exceptional!

Awesome work you've got here. Excellent green stuff work as well. I'm a big fan of that Chapter Master. It's good to see someone go a different route for modelling their leadership.

Thanks guys!

I might've started another army, bought some sisters on my last visit to the store and I've been busy looking at all that grey plastic.

But on the other hand I've been painting a bit to balance it out, here's the wip on the inquisitor:

And the chaos lord is almost complete:

Question ... how did you attach/mount the chains to the guns?

Good work on finishing the Lord and Inquisitor. Neat little bit of freehand on the Lords leg

If you mean the chain on the templars it's 1,5mm chain from GreenStuffWorld and I:

1. Put some superglue on the wrist of the model and connect the end of the chain.
2. Wrap it around the gun a few times to get the desired length.
3. Cut the chain so it hangs freely.
4. Put some superglue on the front end of the gun and attach the other end of the chain.
5. Get a thin layer of superglue all over the chain so it doesn't move by itself.

gobert wrote:Good work on finishing the Lord and Inquisitor. Neat little bit of freehand on the Lords leg

Thank you! They're not completely finished yet (purity seals, skulls, sword, skin and the plaguebearer head left on the Inquisitor.) And yeah Word Bearers are known for having all kinds of text/runes and markings on their armor so I wanted him to actually look like a word bearer and not some random lord. I would like to get some more in there but there's not a lot of room on the armor (+ I need to practice my freehanding since I will be freehanding most of the Templar/WB icons )

Back with an update, I've been working on a kill team of Word Bearers now and they're somewhat close to complete now. Had a bit of practice on freehanding with this terminator and I'm pretty happy how the shoulderpad turned out, not so much on the symbols on the fists (bad planning and paint got a bit too so hard to control)

And a small group shot of the kill team so far (+a sneaky lord in the background):

Okay guys I'm back again with a "bigger" update this time! I've been kinda in between projects for a while now due to a lack of focus and seeing those new Primaris are making it even more difficult for me now
But enough of that, here's what I've been up to since last time.

FIRST! I played a game for the first time since my childhood. I managed to get my girlfriend to play with me and we had a blast! (Well I did at least, think she enjoyed it as well)
We played a game of Kill team with Word Bearers(me) vs Tau(her). She managed to escape with the win in the end as the game ended on turn 4 and I didn't manage to slay a breacher in melee in two turns with my CSM leader and 2 cultists.
Here's a random shot from the game (ignore all the unpainted terrain ):

The game gave me some inspiration and I'm currently in the progress of building multiple new kill teams. Mind you I won't be doing full rosters at the start, just enough to play some games.
Right now I have Death Guard team on my table. I only had the DG from Dark Imperium but I wanted a better loadout for them so I had to kitbash a bit. They are still in need of cleaning up moldlines and stuff before painting.
The full team:

Champion with Power Fist and Plasmagun:

Great Plague Cleaver:

Blight Launcher #1 (Demolitionist):

Plague Flail:

Blight Launcher #2:

I am also building a sisters team with my version of Gotfred the Montbard:

In addition to these two I have a basecoated Tyranids kill team. I also stopped by my local store today and got a "small" haul of other stuff:

What will I make of them.. who knows yet

Thanks! Neither can I, just need to get started on the painting some day.

Actually, instead of painting I dove right in to the pile of plastic that I just bought and here's the first result:

He's a leader for my next kill team (Militarum Tempestus). Lorewise they will be part of a law enforcement unit working under direct command of an Ordo Hereticus inquisitor tasked to hunt down Rogue Traders who have gone renegade. Figured that wouldn't exactly fall under the jurisdiction of the Adeptus Arbites.. or would it
