Theophony wrote:Maybe some glowey light purple spots. I just looked up super Lex Luther on image search since I'm not up to the decade on comics and he seems to have a few spots of white, and the purple would be more of a throw back to older Lex Luther colors.

It's a possibility. I'll not deny I'd like to get the classic green and purple in there.

Any suggestions or watchouts?

Red stripes or all reds ? Imperial veterans, with Countess Ryad in her TIE D, is wonderful. I keep meaning to pick up the Upsilon (Kylo Ren's shuttle) and run it with a Striker and the Decimator. But I love the look of the Decimator with the two strikers. Bombs, and K Wings especially, are very dominant just now, but there's currently a massive "Screw the Meta" backlash too, which is fantastic - a lot of the top ranked players are going out of their way to play non-meta fun builds to prove that it's all about the pilot. In other words, Fly Casual. It's really encouraging to see, even as a casual player. Reminds me of the glory years of competitive Trek CCG (before it all went to the crapper, but anyway...)

Gitsplitta wrote:Focus the camera!

Yeah still work on getting my head round new camera phone. Hopefully this is better:

NOT perfect, but better?

And the question of what to have holding. I am torn between a HIVE helmet (yellow, black eyes, and maybe an 'H' on the ground), a Scorpio helmet (Orange, black visor - the goons first seen apprehended by SuperLex in Rebirth ), and the head of Braniac (green head, purple dots, maybe cables like a servo skull hanging down ) - here's the possibilities:

Thoughts, C&C, etc... ?

A little from column A, a little from column b I'm trying really hard make my dc stuff much more bright and comic-y than the grim, dark batman stuff. And new camera does help, too, in that it seems to have better light adjustment for natural light levels. Cheers!

So, I think I'm happy with Super-Lex, and tried a new lighting rig/box/camera setup:

Possibly a bit dark but very true to the model colours.

Had a great game tonight, demoing to a new victim and helping/hanging with Metropolis and Antarios

Going to try to get some paint on stuff tomorrow. Kids out, hopefully some Graven time

Also got try Street Wars NYC (couple of days left on Kickstarter, tl;dr definitely one to back). Without going into minute detail, there's some neat mechanics in this. With a core rule of 4+ always passes (and the game uses dice from regular d6 all the way up to d12), it's pretty easy to get your head round.

Although players activate their whole gang at once, you can move out of sequence to react to an opposing figure, giving a dynamic touch.

Also, it's also worth remembering that this game isn't just about fighting your way to the top: your gang gets there by vandalising, mugging, breaking in and stealing (and sometimes uncuffing a brother where necessary) too.

That being said, ain't no winning the street without a rumble, and the mechanics for fighting look pretty slick, with a simple opposed dice roll system.

However - and this is one of the most interesting aspects of the game - your gang don't always do as they're told. Each turn, to use them, you must make a Funk roll - on a 4+ (better characters have better dice, so it's always at least 50%), they're feeling funky and will do as ordered. Otherwise, they can just strut about or, on a 1, strike a pose and the initiative passes to your opponent.

As well as building and customising your gang with all manner of gear, you can design your own crew. But there's plenty of options, from Warlord down to ganger, not forgetting those MVP, independent operatives who bring jive suckers the pain for the right price. And then, you get do the deed, hit the streets, and get the payoff - along with random side missions for your crew to tag, bag and brag their way to the top.

The minis are nice too:

Black Cobras, disco martial arts dudes led by the pimp mack daddy The Saint

And the Devil's Outcasts, mean thugs and warriors all.

Scale shot

So a bit smaller than BMG but otherwise spot on at 28mm. Beautiful casts, no flags or mould lines at all. Worth a punt!

Hope y'all found that interesting, and thanks for ongoing support
Graven

SuperLex looks great (though I must admit I have no idea why he's dressed like that, I'm still stuck somewhere in the middle of the New52 stuff! Is he an out-and-out hero type now, or is it just another attempt to make people think he is?)

When you say Wonder Woman, is that the new horse version? I vote that next if so, and not just because I'm interested to see if the sculpt actually supports its own weight, I've had trouble with metal horses drooping in the past.

Okeydoke boss

And so, continued with Studio Miniatures stuff

Debated leaving Rick's hand off, but I'm not *that* dark It is rather nice to have alternate versions of him, Carl and Lori to do different stat cards for. Ash and Elvis are an added fun bonus

Also, enlisted the older spawn to do some priming and drybrushing

Slave labour is excellent indeed. He has some survivors he has built and wants to paint, so set him to work on these as part of it also got him to tidy up the primer on the bus.

He is indeed a legit hero... sorta
No spoilers though, just go read. Current Superman and Action Comics are superb.

It is indeed the metal horse version, and so some step by step pics :

Here's the components. Tactical rocks at hoof/tab to distribute weight.

Other half of the horse attached. More tactical hoof weight distribution.

And with torso. Very well balanced model, thus far.

Speaking of balance, I started Dr Fate . The model has massive cape, and the base is an Ankh that his feet balance on. That. Will. Not. Work.

:O
Clearly, I was mistaken. I still pinned it, but quite remarkable nonetheless.

Gitsplitta wrote:Sorry graven, that was an autocorrect error from my phone. I meant "dirtying" them up a little bit. Maybe just and the cuffs, seat or knees.

Ah! Yeah, worth some grubby detailing. I'll get on that.

Played the Days Gone Bye expansion with the boys today.
Wow, so very good. Challenging, fun, and with a great narrative flow. I had my concerns because we don't have all the character booster packs but we just followed the points based variations where necessary.

First scenario is to break into the police station. Really tense, loved it. Rick got bitten straight away but they still made it. The expansion introduces Repair and Smash rules, which add a level of complexity without interfering with the flow or enjoyment (still perfectly accessible to the 7 year old).

We also played doing a sprint into Atlanta on a supply run that used the Gory Clothing rules (walkers don't react to you immediately ). The absolute fear in the kids' eyes every time we drew an event card in case it was a thunderstorm (suddenly, you're in clean clothes and surrounded by walkers) was a joy Good times
So yeah highly recommend this expansion!

And put together most of this excellent 3D printed donut shop from Z1 Designs

15mm version of the sign as a bonus for scatter elsewhere in city

Cheers chaps,

For DCU? Yeah, I need to get one done actually, properly using my terrain all set up.

On we go, building, filling bases etc. Not sure what to do with Martian Manhunter's base. I'm tempted to have him phasing through something, but his pose is very static. Cracked red martian soil? Another possibility is to do something totally different and do it as a star field maybe? But I'm really open to suggestions. Urban rubble is always valid.

Painting wise, bus, walkers and survivors are now at the front of the queue

Quiet you!

One will come, soon enough.

So, a little painting, a little building.

A lot of blue, as it happens:

Note to self, focus camera on foreground Quick response team. Lethal cops for BMG.

Started blocking in colours on Kingdom Come Superman also:

I'm going to have that spot colour problem again, I can tell...

Not pictured, also, blues on zombie/survivor denims.

And just about finished building Wonder Woman (need to GS horse cracks ) and went with a ruined street look for the base:

Enjoyed making barbed wire, very easy, going to be doing that again I'll wager

Also - 10,000th post. Blimey. Officially no longer just a Fixture of Dakka
