Well, it's not exactly a battle report, at least not a very detailed one, but I recorded my first experience with Zone Raiders (along with photos of course) on my blog. It's early for me of course, but so far I feel that Zone Raiders would be fun for anyone interested in a model-agnostic and/or campaign-based sci-fi skirmish game. The rule set is quite versatile as it allow for cooperative or versus gaming, in campaigns or one-off games, with a couple of options for whether to use more random or more "fair" rules for a fluffier or more competitive experience.

EDIT: fixed the link! Thank you Easy E!

After trying Zone Alfa and liking it, but not its jank. Going to give Zone Raiders a try. On the plus side, it works well with Infinity figures.

The Link took me to a Batman miniature game battle?

Edit: I agree with your thoughts on the Batman game, and have been discouraged by the Objective babysitting and a whole lot of work for nothing much to happen. I also am not a fan of games that try to use special rules in place of a decent stat line.

Ah, damn! I have no idea how that happened, thank you so much for pointing it out! I've fixed the link in original post, it should now point to here: http://soulsamurai.blogspot.com/2020/03/this-is-test-of-emergency-zone-raiding.html

That was an old edition, I don't know how the game plays now, but I certainly do appreciate the feedback. The whole "everything uses the same number unless a special rule changes it" thing really feels like clunky, dated rules design to me. Still, there was a lot about those rules that I liked; like many hobbyists I've been put some thought into my own rules set, and a whole lot of what I came up with was influenced by Batman and Knight Models' Marvel/DC game, both in terms of ideas to use/expand upon and in terms of things to avoid...

Good quick review.

I watched a couple of GMG reports, and this seemed like a fun game. It looked more fun than many of the other games highlighted by Ash.

I agree that it could be token heavy, but I could see using a side board as a useful tool for this game.

It's subjective of course, what I can say is that of the new games I've looked into recently, Zone Raiders seems to be the closest to my own personal preferences and sensibilities.

I'm planning on running a cooperative campaign, in which I think it should be fine to put a bunch of the tokens on the cards instead of next to the models, especially if we use activation tokens on the cards so we start each activation by scanning the cards for ones without activation tokens. Like wounds for example; if we initially forget that a model has a wound or two on it that shouldn't be a big deal in a cooperative setting.
