Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

United States

Hey guys! So I love my militia, and at LVO this year there were four of us (including me) there representing the unaugmented hordes of humans that assisted the Legions in the Age of Darkness. This will be my catch all thread for proposed units, new provenances ect... Feedback is awesome, and if you have your own ideas feel free to stick em in here!

Additional Provenances

Nomadic Roots – 50 points:
Many cultures that survived Old Night suffered depredations to the point that a centralized form of life became impossible. These humans reverted to a mobile culture, resulting in soldiers that are adept at encircling the enemy, and using natural terrain to their advantage while eschewing heavy armor, or static defenses.

All eligible units gain the scout and stealth special rule; however, they also suffer a -1 penalty to their Amor Save. An army using this Provenance cannot purchase fortifications. In addition, Grenadiers gain the Support Squad special rule.

An Army with this Provenance may not select Survivors of the Dark Age.

Sharpshooters – 50 points:
Whether instilled by long experience on the hunt or rigorous training, a keen aim has benefited mankind for millennia. This skill has only become more valuable since humanity stepped out into the stars and had to wrest a new home from Xenos species, or worse.

All eligible units may reroll to-hit rolls of 1 with ranged weapons. In addition, if a model with this Provenance remained stationary in the movement phased it gains the Precision Shot and Pinning special rule with any attacks made in the shooting phase.

Militia Infantry Squads with this Provenance may replace their Auxilia Rifles with Lasrifles for +15 points per squad.

Militia Reconnaissance Squads with this Provenance may add five additional Recon Auxiliary to their squad for 10 points per model.

An army with this Provenance may not select Cult Horde.

Drop Troops - +35 points:
Cut off from each other during Old Night, human colonies were often forced to look to themselves alone for protection from the horrors of that time. In order to better react to sudden raids, many world developed rapid response strategies, with a lucky few even having access to the technology to outfit entire regiments for aerial or near-orbital insertion. Such tactics would prove invaluable on the battlefields of the Age of Darkness.
All eligible units with this provenance (except for Heavy Ordnance Batteries, or Rapier Batteries) may purchase Grav-chutes for +20 points per unit. These allow the unit to be placed in Reserve at the start of the game and arrive via Deep Strike. In an army using this Provenance, up to half of the units with Grav-chutes arrive from Deep Strike in turn 1. The rest arrive as normal following the Reserve rules.

Sentinel Squadrons may also purchase Grav-chutes for +20 points per unit.

In addition, Militia Fire Support Squads or Ogryn Brute Squads numbing up to five models, or Rapier Batteries may take an Arvus Lighter as a Dedicated Transport.

Any army using this Provenance may not select the Survivors of the Dark Age, Feral Warriors, Cult Horde, or Twisted Flesh.

Armored Companies +50 points:
On many worlds, the industrial might of a planet made them a beacon of hope during the Long Night. Often this made them an attractive target for roaming Xenos, but the ability to build and maintain large armored companies meant that any such incursions were often thrown back into the void. By the time of the Great Crusade many such planets had organized their entire art of war around armored warfare.
Any army using this Provenance may take Battle Tank Attack Squadrons or Carnodon Strike Squadrons as non-compulsory Troop choices. Any Infantry units must start the game embarked in a transport. In addition, no Artillery units or Fortifications may be purchased for an army using this Provenance.

In addition, all eligible units may take the following special rule:
Tank Riders - +20 points: Instead of purchasing a dedicated transport, any Infantry unit without the Bulky or Very Bulky rule using this Provenance may be upgraded to Tank Riders. This Infantry unit may then embark on any Tank unit in the same army, counting the Tank unit as Open Topped Transports for the purposes of shooting, drawing line of sight, and disembarking. The number of models that can be carried is determined by the number of Hull Points in the unit, with each Hull Point allowing 3 Models to be Embarked. Any shooting attack that fails to Glance or Penetrate a Tank with Tank Riders embarked automatically causes a single hit to the embarked unit at half the strength and AP of the original shooting attack (rounding up). In addition, enemy units may still attempt to shoot at the embarked Infantry unit, drawing line of sight and range to the hull of the Tanks being used as transport. Weapons using Templates cause D3 automatic hits to the Embarked unit per Tank covered by the Template. The Tank Riders controlling player may allocate wounds. Unlike units using normal Transports, Tank Riders can still fail Moral Tests from shooting. If they Fall Back, make any measurements from the hull of the Tanks being used as transports. Additionally, embarked Tank Riders can shoot in the Shooting phase, (measure and use line of sight from the hull of the vehicle they are embarked on), and fight in the Close Combat phase if their transport is locked in combat. They may never sweeping advance, and the enemy cannot sweeping advance if the Tank Riders Fall Back after losing a combat while being embarked.

Any army using this Provenance may not select Drop Troops, Cult Horde, or Feral Warriors.

Guerrilla Fighters +50 points:
Some human worlds fell almost immediately to the depredations of callous mutant overlords or Xenos raiders during Old Night. While many were enslaved or butchered on these planets, some remained free, revenge burning within them. These hardened fighters would sometimes be able to wrest control of their planet back, others would fight guerilla wars for generations until being rediscovered by the Great Crusade. The skills learned in those dark days would prove useful in the times ahead.

All eligible units gain the Infiltrate special rule.

“Victory is not an abstract concept, it is the equation that sits at the heart of strategy. Victory is the will to expend lives and munitions in attack, overmatching the defenders’reserves of manpower and ordnance. As long as my Iron Warriors are willing to pay any price in pursuit of victory, we shall never be defeated.” - The Primarch Perturabo, Master of the Iron Warriors

If I ever played HH, I’d play them. But that’s not likely to ever happen since they discontinued the line

You mean they discontinued to old imperial army line? That may be true but I'm looking to make rules for units that lorewise should exist and tbh arent that hard to kitbash as all. Do you have any notes on any of the rules so far?
