Question: If Player 1 kills a unit in the Fight phase and consolidates 3" away to another unit (belonging to Player 2) and it's Player 2's turn to fight with another of his/her unit, Player 2 can fight that unit that just consolidated within 1" of one of his own squad right?

The requirement to fight in the melee phase is:

Any model that charged or was charged in this battle round, or that is within 1" of an enemy model, can be chosen to fight in the Fight phase. (P34 - models that can fight)

So yes.

Also note that you can fight if you were charged successfully even if the model that charged you is dead and you don't have any enemies within 1" once your turn comes around - so if you can get within 1" of an enemy with your pile-in move then fun commences.

Chargers are restricted to only fighting models they charged (or which charged them). Models that received a charge have no such restriction.

If a model receives a charge but is no longer within 1" of an enemy (e.g. the enemy that charged them was killed by another model), then it cannot fight because it doesn't meet the conditions of being allowed to fight.

I posted the rules text that explicitly gives them permission. Do you have anything to contradict that? I'll post the quote from the rulebook again:

Any model that charged or was charged in this battle round, or that is within 1" of an enemy model, can be chosen to fight in the Fight phase. (P34 - "Models that can fight")

So they can fight, they can pile in. If they can't get to within 1" of something with the pile in move then they have no valid targets.

Sorry, you're absolutely right. I somehow blanked on the "...or was charged..." part of the sentence, my mistake.

Holy sh**! @_@

Yeah, you're right! The way it's phrased! @_@ Thanks!

Hey Scott could I feature this on my YouTube channel? I'll credit you.

This would:

1. Increase interest with my following (I'd be lying if I said I don't have an ulterior motive)

2. Preempting debates in my LGS from erupting with a handy video that explains it step by step.
