Guardsman with Flashlight

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum so after the introduction thread I guess it's right to show you one of my project ! I do hope i'm on the right section ...
I started to paint seriously in March 2018 after finishing a death guard army I sold it to start a one that I always loved on his design .... The death Korps ! I was lucky enough to find close to where I live a complete set of the references including grenadiers ... still on bags and boxes sold by another player, he bought them back in 2009 and never made anyhting with.
So I will show you my current work about it, please keep in mind that i started this army in 2019 and since i'm kinda new to paint I still have alot to learn , that's why quality may be variable between each models, I'll post the photos on a chronological way, the older first and the more recent as last, btw know all the bases have the circle part paint in black for a more "clean" aspect, back in the days I didn't care much about it (shame on me !).
I paint them on the famous Blue horizon of the French army during 14/18 and named them the 16th Verdain regiment (Yeah I know it's Verdun but ... we are in the 42 millennium ).
Overall i give an aspect of destroyed city and ground muddy aspect trenches at the start of winter season that's why the vehicles and helmet are quickly painted in white. The vehicles have all the name and tactical symbol used by the French during both world wars.
First models painted, the engineers !
Leman Russ vanquisher :
Heavy mortar
HQ squad
Macharius Vulcan
Cyclope explosive tank
Infantry "advancing" version
Quarter master
Heavy bolter team
I'll post the rest a little bit later, hope you like it !

Some real nice work. I’ve always wanted to do Krieg, but they are so damn expensive and resin frustrates me to no end. Anyways keep it up!

Hello everyone,
Thanks alot for you kind words !
Deathkorps_rider ==> It's true that the models (especially horses are expensive ...) if I didn't had find the good occasion of the (almost) complete set for a steal price I wouldn't have bought this much models to be honest.
Jihadnik ==> Oh sorry, I didn't meant that to be the type of guy like you know ..."here first model ever painted C/C welcome" and I show a true golden demon slayer sword winner model (i'm pretty far from that level also).
It's just that when I see my first models painted like the engineers or my Leman Russ i just want to repaint them because I've learn alot between this days and today.
Gordy ==> Ahaha, thanks ! I do love this tank too, I actually plan to buy and paint one day the Gorgon and Malcador, just love this tanks, too !
Here the last painted DKK Chimera from 8 February and the commissar 1 week ago, yeah I didn't do much because I started to open commission works in March and ... don't have much time to spent on my own paint projects now.
I bought this Chimera on a forum, for 10€ was painted all on clear blue spray and I tought that he could be fun to "save" it, sadly I didn't took any pictures "before/after" I have to do that next time. (note that the multilaser has a missing part but it don't bother me, it give a kinda unique style DKK production)
This commissar was my very first try of NMM on a blade, still have to improve of course but i'm happy with the result !

Your army looks great. For reference. The missing cylinder from the multi laser is 4.5mm in diameter by 7.5mm in length. The angle on the front of the cylinder looks to be about 45°. You could probably make one out of stuff laying around.

Great style. The flame thrower is superb love the lighting effects and in the cold as well, really top level work on that one, you could enter that in to a competition and probably do pretty well.
For me, I wasn't a big fan of the bases in the first few units. Would have preferred to see a brown rim same as game workshop, but that's just me. It looks like you've changed them now to black? Works better!

This style is right up my alley.
Looks like oil/enamel washes ? Weathering is great too. Some of the mud on the tanks is photo quality.

Hello guys !
thanks again for your comments !
Axe Dale ==> It's exactly that, at first i didn't give much importance of the base so I didn't repaint the round part after the model was done ... but now everything has turned black and it look better.
GrimOldOrk ===> Yep on the tanks it's indeed oil/enamel wash product, the mud is really a fun part to make juste like the weathering of the vehicles.

Bro if you painted a long shadow behind the two guys with the flamethrower it would be insane. I wouldn't change a thing though but just saying maybe if you play with light effects in future add those long shadows could be nice. Usually you wouldn't do that because it's a 3d object but because you've added a strong light source it could be something to consider. Good job!

You are totaly right for the shadow it's something to think about for my next work like this !
Here the last Death Rider made, as for continue my training about NMM I've done it on this rider I've also added more artificial water to give a better muddy water look
Also worked the little flag on the spear by adding "Verd 16" on one side and on the other a daguer with a roman number "1" for making it a veteran/command unit.

Oh my, that is some tasty work on some great models. Well weathered artillery pieces are a weakness of mine. Group photos of the current army when?
Chiming in on the flamethrower team, excellent work but really wants those sharp, long shadows behind the men to hammer home the illusion of bright flames.

This is truly stunning work! The weathering on the vehicles and environment effects on the bases and models is so natural looking, they've got darkness and grit while being vivid and colourful, and the historical research you've put in gives them an air of realism. The fire effects are simply sublime, the lighting is phenomenal. Incredible work, look forward to seeing more although there is already so much for my eyes to feast on! I have to mention the brown cloak on the quartermaster, it just looks so real and flowing and dirty

Hello everyone !
Some time since I have not posted here but now i can show you better photos of my works since I've reworked my way of taking pictures ! (thanks to the tutorial of "Miniac" on youtube).
So ... I will present you some new models painted recently for my army but also "old" ones that didn't have any good photos to really give them justice !
The grenadiers below are actually old photos I'll show on another post my new photos with a white background.
So I've changed my way of doing my "blue horizon" since I was not totaly happy with ... simple really I had this grenadiers squad on bag since a long time but really wanted to have good experience at painting my death korps before painting them so, changing the recipe of the blue was a good start, I finaly find a good way of doing it now and I stay with it (for now ... )
