I'm reading over the warscroll for Ironjawz 'Ardboys from the AoS2 battletome, and I want to make sure that I have this completely clear for my upcoming games.
It appears that as the warscroll is written, it is best to optimize your unit by making every 5 'Ardboys set up as:
-1 Gorkamorka Banner Bearer
-1 Gorkamorka Glyph Bearer
So that the only other thing you would do perhaps is to swap out one of the shield bearers with a Boss. Does that sound right? I want to make sure I build the kit correctly.
Incorrect. Only 1 out of every 5 Ardboyz can carry either a banner OR
a glyph. You can't have both in the same 5 model group. To get both you'd need a group of 10.
From the warscroll; "STANDARD BEARERS: 1 in every 5 models in this unit can either be a Gorkamorka Banner Bearer or a Gorkamorka Glyph Bearer"
Note the OR I highlighted in red.
So in a 5 man squad;
1 banner OR
- you gotta pick the effect you think will work best for you. Personally I'd pick the banner. Now in a 10 man squad I'd have one of each...
Also, when allocating wounds such that you want to try the 6+ shield save, if you fail the shield save such that the wounds taken would kill a mini (say, a damage 2 attack), do you have to remove one of your shield bearers or can it be any mini?
Yes, it has to be on the shield bearer that failed the save. Because you have to specifically assign a wound to the model in order to roll the save.
From the warscroll; "Roll a dice each time you allocate a wound
to a model carrying an Orruk-forged Shield.
On a 6, that wound is negated.
