Hey y'all, I received an Idoneth Deepkin army in a swap a while back, and I'm just now getting it finished up. So I'm wondering what I should be doing with what I have and what, if anything, I should add to make my list more useful. I've done some digging on idoneth strategies, and it seems like I've got some hits and some misses, but I figured I'd get some advice on whether what i'm doing is anywhere near feasible.
I've got
-1 Tidecaller
-1 Soulscryer (converted)
-1 Soulrender (converted)
-1 Octopus Joe
-2 Turtles
-6 Eels (built as Sword Eels, since they seemed to synergize more with the turtles and it seemed like if you had spear eels you wanted a whole army+Kings, which I don't have)
-10 Bow Namarti
-40 Sword Namarti
-3 Sharks
Believe it or not I actually have 20 more namarti thralls, which I did not build because I figured 40 was about the maximum I'd likely need/want and they are NIB so I thought I'd maybe trade them away at some point.
The main questions I've got are
1) How necessary are the ships and akhelion kings? They seem extremely common in many lists, but if I can make do without them I would prefer that.
2) Can you make a list with two turtles successful? or are turtles pretty much a dedicated centerpiece model only? I don't have a great handle on AOS' stats but it seems like they're mostly aura givers.
My list building thoughts were basically, eels go in front of the main force in the turtle aura for a 3+ invuln save, big namarti horde with some reavers to hold objectives paired with the tidecaller and octopus man, maybe the soulrender if he's anything, but his ability doesn't seem...great... and then the soulscryer drops the sharks in where they use the charge reroll+blood scent to get stuck in. Run the tidecaster as general so I can flip tide and charge on turn 2. Thinking Fuethan enclave since fall back and charge doesn't do much turn 1.
