I've got far too many orks. There's probably a lot of us here who do what I did. Buy way too much stuff, paint a few models and then get bored and move onto the next project. But still occasionally buy stuff for the old projects.

Anyway, I was talking to one of my gaming buddies this weekend and made a joke that if I had painted one ork a day from when I had started collecting them, I would have a pretty decent army by now. Which got me thinking, I often lose interest in a project because I absolutely hate batch painting and once I've done a unit I can't be bothered to ever paint that scheme again. But I quite enjoy painting single miniatures. So, I figured I would give it a go, paint one ork a day and see how long I can keep it up for. I posted my first attempt up on Facebook and it felt pretty good to see people liking the pic. Why not double down and start a blog on Dakka Dakka, I thought, so here I am.

I'm not the best painter in the world by any stretch but I figure if this helps keep me motivated, I might have a small force by the end of the year!

Enough talk - here's ork number 1

And because I actually started this project yesterday, here's a bonus ork. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

Is there such a thing?

But in all seriousness the paint scheme is spot on and I like the spirit of the project. How many Orks do you have, model-wise?

I think it's a great idea, and the ideal number of orks to have is all of them. All the orks.

What a brilliant idea. Like doing crunches or calling your mom, except you get to Waaagh! at the end. Great painting, too!

I like that last one! Is that a classic metal burna ork?

Cheers for the nice words, I appreciate it!

It sure is. All the Kommandos so far have been metal. I was a bit bummed out when I first realised that Kommandos couldn't take Big Shootas or Burnas anymore but I guess he can be seconded to a unit of Burna Boyz, if I ever get round to painting them!

I like that old metal guy, nice to know i identified him right!

This one isn't as familiar to me, but i think it's neat how he's got the bullets draped over his wrist. And an excellent paint job, of course

Good idea to do an Ork a day, hopefully it keeps the pain boy away! Great paint scheme too, the horde will be looking good soon enough!

That method is a great idea for clearing an orc backlog. Great color scheme, green skin looks nice and I love the lenses on the last model!

Historically, when I get to painting the basic troops for a faction is when I rapidly loose interest, lets see if this project keeps me on track!

Outstanding job!! Your not just hammering on the quantity but you are succeeding on the quality too. Keep up the good work. I have to start clearing out my back log also. I'll be using this thread for inspiration. Subbed.

Yup, excellent job! And it's nice to get a reminder of just how much personality and variety orks have to them, with all the different minis over the years.

Cheers guys! I'm not as happy with this next one, I just couldn't seem to get the skin highlights right. Oh well, he's only an Ork Boy so don't dwell on it and on to the next one!

Nice work, very impressed with the quality. Keep it up.
Been doing something similar myself. I have something like 9k points of painted Evil Sunz but I always had a handful of odds and sods lurking at the back of my cupboard waiting for their turn. Spare Meks, Pain boyz and Nobz as well as a couple of kit-bashed Deff Dreds and buggies.
The spare time I have means that these sad little forgotten boyz have now joined their fungus bros with a fresh lick of paint.
