Majority of all miniature games uses dices in various amounts or ways and in that regards dices ofc are a must have.
But do you allso buy more dices then you actualy need for your games??

Do you have a style of dices for different moods you are in?, or day of the week?, Have you bought custom dices spesificly just for a force you collect? Are you a person that simply have to stop and look at all the dices that are for sale when you enter a gaming shop?

I can cross out all of the above and more.
Some people impulse shops electronic devices or pc/videogames or clothes, or general merch, i impulse shop dices.
Some times just 6 of a spesific design, other times 36 of a spesific design. D2/3/4/6/8/10/20, 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, and ofc colour matchups. dosent matter, if i like them i want them.
I even repaint the dots if i feel they dont match the colour of the dice.

(a little taste of my 16mm)

So, are you a dice collector?

Not really.
Each army I have has it's own set of dice, templates, tape measure, tokens, cards, etc (whatever's necessary for that game) within its carry case.
Sometimes these dice are specific (faction symbols etc), sometimes just generic Chessex.
Then there's a mess of the generic GW dice that come in starter boxes in a tupperware container at home.

I started doing this ages ago. I'd get to the shop & discover I'd forgotten dice/templates/etc. Very annoying. So I solved that.

I play rpgs as well so I have quite a few sets of dice, in addition to the d6s for armies.

I ended up getting a huge glass jar and store most of them in that.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I have a few souvenirs from old Salute shows; d6s with numbers because I get 'pip blindness' with buckets o' dice; polydice for Mayhem; and a handful of lurid green dice from an old model shop that I bought as an overenthusiastic newb, but were so old and misshapen I don't think I'd trust them to land on a face, let alone a random number.

That's about it.

All the different swirls and pearlescents and transparents look nice, but so far they haven't excited me enough to splurge.

Kinda thinkin' about Thundercats dice, tho.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

I've hit the training slope on this one. I got some faction-colored dice for Infinity once, and I've purchased replacements for those dice as they've gone missing.

On the one hand, they're D20's, so I didn't have those in the same numbers that I do D6's. But I had more than enough assorted D20's that I could do without color coordinated sets.

Edit: And I definitely have purchased decks of cards for Malifaux for the artwork.

I'm not a dice collector, but I am a dice user...

I do like custom dice for my armies, etc. I don't, however, buy lots of random dice sets and just stash them in a box. If they're not being used, they'll be sold on. Love dice, but don't just stash them.

I'm not one deliberately but I've ended up with a pretty big collection of them over the years anyhow. And i do think that they're pretty neat to have in all sorts of different shapes and colors.

Plus they can make for some good games on their own, the last time i had my nephews over they decided that the dice were all gems that we were mining for. Never underestimate what kids can make into games on their own.

Love dice! Honestly one of my favorite things with 40K and WFB was getting dice to match my army or different aspects of said armies... or even with Warmachine and Hordes I'd get what matched my faction or how I painted my faction.

It got tricky to do it with other games like Infinity mostly because it was more of a one by one basis rather than like one of those dice cubes.

If I kept all the dice I had over the years... dang... sometimes I wonder where I'd put it all..

I’ve got a giant bag of assorted dice. Few hundred easy.

But for RPG use, I switched to a matched set (black, red numbers) where I have 5 of each polyhedral, more d6s and d10s for systems that use handfuls of those. A few different colored ones for when you need to differentiate (d100s, stun multiplayers)

For 40k I have a brick of 36 purple swirly dice (with 3 replaced with basic white) that I use for everything. Big d6 for counting turns.

I stopped collecting odd/fun dice because I never would use them. And have enough clutter.

I don't officially collect dice, but I seem to have accumulated two fairly substantial jars of them along with the pile that actually gets played with

hmmm maybe I do collect dice.... just the nice ones that I think look cool though

Yes. I even buy several sets, just for the thought that if someday I will lose/break/chip some of the dice, I will have full replacement.

Many, many RPG sets, always looking to add more.

On the wargaming side, I have a few special sets - Mechwarrior: Dark Age (various factions), Bolt Action (Germany & US), Genestealers and a few others. My eldest son has some Tyranid dice I'd love to get my hands on.

It never ends well

I love army/faction-specific dice. If that range doesn't have one then I'll usually buy some colour-appropriate dice to use with them instead.

I do however draw the line at terrible designs/ugly colours, such as the latest batch of GSC dice.

I'm nuts about dice. All shapes, all sizes.
My D6 game is pretty weak because I've always been primarily a MTG player. Not much call for a D6, but I have more than my share of D20's. And themed to match my sleeves and decks, of course.

I started building an army for 40K within the past year, but after my first practice scrimmage, I went and bought a set of dice to match my armor scheme.

I'm looking into Gaslands, and will definitely end up with a set of custom skid dice or seven. And, I'll need some D6 attack dice for the various sponsors I'll be running with.

I've even got a couple sets of dice for use in the bedroom with the wife.

I always look at the racks of dice in any gaming store I enter, even if I don't always walk away with a new set.

I personally really don't care for dice. To me, they're a tool and the most important is that they roll well (as in, it's comfortable to use them) and that it's easy to see the rolls. That's it for me. Of course, I have a pile of dice, but that's mostly for practical reasons (sometimes you do need a bucket of them).

I still have the full set of light blue marbled polyhedra I bought in a plastic tube at Ralph's Comic Corner when I was twelve (I had just played D&D for the first time at summer camp), so that was 30+ years ago. I've kept a few other faves (my wild die from West End Games' Star Wars RPG, for example) and a few souvenir dice from cons and such. I like having a faction-specific set of d6 for 40k, but I haven't acquired as many as I've fantasized about. Once I repainted all the pips because the dice didn't quite match my paint scheme.

It's one of those things I've always actively resisted, like Funko Pops, because if I ever started it would bankrupt me.

I have plenty of dice, don't get me wrong, but I don't buy them just for the sake of having them. Most armies don't even get their own set.

Owns Whole Set of Skullz Techpriests

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I've only ever bought a small selection of special dice.

I bought Jade Falcon dice to use for BattleTech (they're actually the Dark Age Jade Falcon dice) and I got a few more faction-specific sets in the recent BattleTech kickstarter (Ghose Bear, Federated Suns, Federated Commonwealth, Draconis Combine).

Beyond that I have a few sets of Chessex dice, none of which are fancy. I got some "clockwork design" fancy dice in a set that came free with some army cases I bought. I have a couple of D100's that are the big clear ones with the small D10 inside.

Beyond that, no special dice. I do still have the mixed dice set that GW used to sell back in the 90's.

No.

The wife does, though.

I do the clean-up after my club runs tourneys and people leave dice behind all the fraggin' time.

I put notices up in various groups about stuff left behind and the need to contact me so I don't have to put them up on ebay, and most of the time, the owners get their stuff back.

If they don't, then finders-keepers and the sparkly ones go to the wife.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I wouldn't say collector but I definitely like old dice, such as the old DnD dice, and recently picked up the D10s that were made for the old Vampire RPG (awful RPG despite being so huge in the 90's) and a couple of the D6s that were made for the old Middle-Earth CCG (really nice CCG that one was).

I don't collect dices per say, but I do get new dices for new armies, trying to match the colours or the theme, even got dices for the magic phase back in the Fantasy days and such.

Most of the time I get at least 2 different sets for an army, so that I can roll for different attacks at the same time, or just to separate a unit champ to see if he's doing good Sometime it take multiple tries to get the right colours so I can buy 3-4 sets until I get what I want (like my Thousand Sons, I'm still not satisfied with the dices I have for them).

With the amount or armies I have, it's starting to pile up!

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts
