Any help and ideas would be appreciated.
It’s been over 15 years and feel like I’m learning everything from scratch again.

Hey Gothm1, welcome to the Ecclesiarchy! There's an excellent Tactica thread in that forum that will be worth your time as you get to know the army.

For starters, you want to chase the Battalion with a passion... this is a CP hungry army. The Dominion/Celestian box is a great source of specials. I think you'll want a preacher before some of those other elites. I'd probably build both multimeltas from the Retributers box, use the cherub for a third shot, and wait on a second box to add 2 more. Heavy bolters and heavy flamers just dont seem as strong (although flamers might get a nice upgrade in 9th). Exorcists will need to come soon as they're you're only long range AT.

To offer any more, I'd have to ask which Order(s) you're considering. With Zephyrim and Repentia, this list seems to lean toward Bloody Rose...

Also consider if you are planning this to go to 2000 points or to be a 1000 point half army you want to soup in to (I don't know, maybe gaurd?)
I would look at allies for a list like this -- maybe not bother with the ONE flamer tank at all.
A cheap inquisitor (make it female, if you like) for 55 points gives you 2 psyker shots if its order malleus, not too shabby. Smite, dominate, castigate are useful workhorse spells to get your sistes into battle and put a few mortal wounds on a priority target (like that enemy character who always gets to melee before your sisters do)
In one way you are like gaurd -- not many attacks per model, so increasing that with a cheap elite or command slot unit (ministerium priest for gaurd, preacher or missionary for sisters) is a great basic idea.

You can do both of these for like 75 points, or a related buildout of the inquisitor with a combimelta and the spell "psychic pursuit" .. that single inquisitor can drop a melta shot and a castigate on an enemy character like a sniper could, and quite possibly strip enemy buffer units before the main body clashes with enemy main body.

I ain't sure but I suspect the exact tanks that end up being good or bad are going to change when 9th drops. Flamers might end up suddenly awesomesauce, but they may end up terrible compared to exorcists' blast weaponry. But an extra attack per sister never goes out of style, and a couple free smite or similar is going to be nice no matter what tanks you like later.

Guard gaurd gAAAARDity Gaurd gaurd.
