In other news, is Charlize Theron pulling a Liam Neison? As she gets older she is reinventing herself as an action star? Typically, such a fate is only reserved for Male Leads, so she is really treading new ground! I love it!

Indeed. She was great in Atomic Blond I thought. She would be great for acting films that have action.
Hey Disney, she'd be a great villain for a multiarc movie series...

I'm down for it, Theron's been in too much stuff I enjoy to not be interested.

So this is out now on Netflix. Watched this tonight. I enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much going into it, but the fight scenes were good and the story was decent but a bit predictable. Definitely worth checking out though.
The story was predictable, but I loved the reason for the Immortality, and the fight scenes were really fluid, and visceral.
"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
Nicely done film, - looked good, action was plentiful but not overwhelming, the characters were engaging and so enjoyed it alot

Agreed. It was a nice popcorn film. Thought the actors were excellent in their roles.

It certainly made more interested to see what comes next, which is a win I guess?
Honestly my fav part was when one of them was scolding those soldiers over calling the other one his "boyfriend", detailing exactly what he meant to him, and how the soldiers could never understand the love that had grown over literal centuries. That was very well written.
And the new girl was good.

That was one of my favorite parts as well.

Highlander with guns! It did exactly what it set out to do- and I loved the idea that these immortals weren't better because they were super strong or super fast- they just flat out had more practice working together than you, and so made your special forces look like raw recruits.
Excellent film, and it really made me want a Highlander reboot.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
Saw this, thought it was pretty good. It hewed very close to the comic book - many scenes were word for word, such as the best scene in the movie (the one HBMC pointed out, and I agree with).
The only notable changes from the comic were
Spoiler:
the introduction of Quynh, who was not in the run of the comics they based the movie on - they added her to set up a sequel, presumably - and Andy didn't lose her immortality, which was changed for, I assume, the same reasons.
I have not yet read the second arc of the comics, so they may and probably do add Quynh there - perhaps the comics writers gave the movie producers a heads up as to their plot bible, as the second arc had not yet started when the movie was made, and is still one issue from being finished even now.
One sort of change is that in the comics most of the characters are absolutely more than ready to die, where they seem to be dreading it in the movie
Good popcorn movie, pretty forgettable, I hope they do a sequel.

Yeah none of what you just said is the plot of the film.
Really helps to see something before you "review" it.

Eh. The fights were nicely choreographed.
Now I'm not a great bladed weapons expert, only having done some fencing and stick fighting but you telegraph your movements like they are doing and you're going to get beaned. Economy of movement has many more advantages than any extra momentum you might pick up doing a twirly twirly. Mostly your target is either going to move or simply hit you.
I get the flashiness of a popcorn movie, I'm just not going to celebrate it. Is there a Taran Tactical for bladed weapon fighting that can do to blades what John Wick 1 did for guns?

I’m not sure you’re posting in the correct movie thread.

Each to their own but you need to actually have watched the film.....
There is no Illumanti or "Power" just someone trying to make a fast buck, and someone helping him who thinks that they can help the world.
Yeah there is aviolence - cos they are soldiers.....wierd that.
Loads of emotion in the film especially between the gay couple who Spolier alert

Person is a replacement.
Bad guys don;t want them to die - whole point of the film!
They learn that they are doing more good than they thought.
No the whole team does not die.
In fact I can't see a single element of your "review" that is factually acurate.
talking to people who watched the film did
Spoiler:
Andy get her immortality back or not at the end? I was not sure or is she just tough?

Solid B+ action movie, with some nice characterisation and plot. Also nice that it’s a self contained story, but that also has some hooks to allow sequels &/or prequels. Felt complete but also left me wanting more (and given the reception it’s getting, hopefully will get some).

Greg Rucka wrote both the original comics and the screenplay for the film. Given how successful it seems to have been I have hopes that we might see a Netflix 'Queen and Country' adaptation one day. I'd be all over that.

I'm not reviewing it. I'm calling it as I see it in the trailer. Looks dumb, so I shan't waste my time.

Fair enough - your choice.
As several of us who saw the film have said however every one of your assertions that you gained from the trailer is wrong.

I am surprised that the baddies kept trying to use lethal force weapons, and didn't really switch to other options. I mean a taser, gas, stun guns, etc would actually have messed the Immortals up just as bad or longer. We saw how effective it was to simply sedate them, and a few times when we saw a stun gun or gas it seemed to work pretty good.
You do start losing a bit of tension since.... they are immortal. But, the fact that they could suddenly lose it helps keep a bit of tension as we did see Lykon die in the past.
