This is a 2000 point list I am thinking of creating using mostly horded conversion bits and nice-looking models from many producers I've gathered over the years. Mostly a fun list, but I'd still like to not get curb stomped. I'd like to have discussion on both my list, and my use of "counts as" if you think it's too much of a stretch. This is basically a stand-back and shoot list, with an element of heavy assault units.

Skitarri units are converted using Dream Forge Games infantry using Admech weapons. Servitors are Admech vehicle gunner torsos on track units to look like mini Kataphrons. Secutarii Peltasts are Necromunda Palanite Enforcers.

Tech-Priest Dominus, Omnissian axe, a volkite blaster and a phosphor serpenta 80

Tech-Priest Enginseer 30

Tech-Priest Manipulus, magnarail lance, an Omnissian staf and mechadendrites 65

I dont think this list works against almost everything :/

For one, keep your Dominus cheap. He's mostly there for the rerolling 1's and repairs.
The Manipulus works with the Kastelan Doomstar, increasing their range.

The Destroyers basically have neither protection nor good role. Any competend opponent will LOS them and then delete them as soon as able and therefore derive you of the Elimination Maniple strat. Consider Breachers, since they are a more durable screen and way less of target priority.

You also run a lot of Troops, which are good for screening, but in this situation will do hardly anything. There is some target overload for enemy anti infantry guns, but without transports the vanguards will footslog it to gunrange - and mostly not make it. They're after all just T3 with a 4+ save, astiff breeze will make em keel and morale will take its toll. I recommend going to 5 man units and getting a few Duneriders as transports for them.

The servitors serve no purpose at all, especially with expensive plasma cannons which they will hit on a 4+ at best. Consider the Vigilus Defiance Sevitor maniple to restore a downed Kataphron - keep them cheap for that and out of LOS.

Same with the peltasts - why? They are flexible, but ultimately not worth their points. You'd need more Hoplites since they can lock down an objective with Aquisition at all costs and can serve as a screen/countercharge.

The Kastelan are solid, but always in danger of getting tarpitted.

You also have basically no mobility to contest objectives or control the map.

Like I said, this is mostly made from models I have collected, not an army I was collecting for a purpose. Really the only reason I have the Peltasts is because I have a couple boxes of those cool looking Necromunda guys, and they have no "real" 40k rules.

The only reason I took the servitors at all is because the conversions looked cool.

But... What do you want to achieve then with this thread then?
If that's the models you want to run with for your perfectly fine reasons, that's what you do... you might get curb stomped because it is a rag-tag assortment of units which you happen to have. If you want to improve the list, you need to run it differently.

I am flexible on aspects of the list. I was just wondering what this list could potentially be good at. BTW, by most common opponent is a character-heavy Death Guard player.

I mean, if you're just throwing all your models into one list it doesn't really matter what we suggest. You're better off making a coherent list at a lower points, say 1500, where you can pick and choose your best synergies.

As it stands, the biggest weaknesses I can see are that the list is virtually immobile and has no way to deal with assaults. You also have the opposite of target saturation; you provide just enough of each kind of target that an enemy TAC will always be efficient.

The weakest links are the Kataphrons, Servitors, and Peltasts. I also dislike all the Omnispex and melee weapons on the Rangers.

Being generous with what you already have modeled, I'd probably cut the list down to 1500 points something like this:

Cybernetic Cohort, Battalion Detachment
Dominus
Enginseer
Cybernetica Datasmith
5 Rangers, 2 Arquebus
5 Rangers, 2 Arquebus
5 Rangers, 2 Arquebus
5 Kastelan Robots Heavy Phosphor Blasters
Onager Dunecrawler neutron laser and 2 cognis heavy stubber, broad spectrum data-tether
Onager Dunecrawler neutron laser and 2 cognis heavy stubber, broad spectrum data-tether

Battalion Detachment
Manipulus
Enginseer
10 Skitarii Vanguard, 3 Plasma Caliver, Omnispex, Apha with Taser Goad and Arc Pistol
10 Skitarii Vanguard, 3 Plasma Caliver, Omnispex, Apha with Taser Goad and Arc Pistol
10 Skitarii Rangers, Alpha with Taser Goad

This at least gives you two distinct elements: a fire base and an assault force. You can use two different forge worlds to maximize each element. The Manipulus definitely needs the new Magos Warlord trait from Engine War, which provides a significant boost to Advance rolls. That'll be your army's only form of mobility, so you have to maximize it. That detachment probably benefits most from Graia or Stygies; the former is more durable and gets access to Emotionless Clarity for shooting in close combat, the latter gets access to Stygies' scout movement stratagem for more mobility. You'll probably spend 2 CP giving Warlord traits to both the HQs of that detachment.

The Cybernetica Cohort probably needs to be Mars for the new canticle and Wrath of Mars on the Kastelans. The new canticle also is a huge buff to Arquebuses. I'm not very knowledgeable about Cybernetica Cohorts so I don't know what Warlord traits or relics would be best.
