I just thought it might be nice to ask what you guys have either built or redone up to now (though feel free to update as you go along!) during lockdown in your hobbying. I think I was fortunate in that 1) I have a pile of shame to work from, and 2) Just before the lockdown I had decided that I had recovered from hobby burnout and so have been quite active. As a 40k player that's naturally what this list will be, but this isn't just a 40k/GW thread. Here's what I've done:

1) Fully built/painted:

Animal (Last Chancer)
Armored Sentinel
x9 Bullgryns
Callidus Assassin
Commissar Yarrick
Culexus Assassin
x2 Cadian Melta Troops
x3 Cadian Plasma Troops
Primaris Psyker
Tech Priest
Tech Priest Grombrindal
x9 Wyrdvane Psykers

Plus a handful of Sector Imperalis Objectives

2) Repainted:

x6 Cadian Snipers
Chimera
x3 Commissars
Company Commander
Leman Russ w/ Battle Cannon
Lord Commissar
Lord Castellan Creed

2000pts - 382nd Cadian Artillery

By the end of this week (Wednesday actually) I'll have painted up:
The Goblin Army (+ some Orcs making an allied guest appearance):
8/9 of Zarbags Gitz (Zarbag himself was painted up months ago for a D&D game)
The Goblinpalooza
2 Mangler Squigs
10 squig riders (5 new, 5 super oop)
5 Boinggrot Bounders
10 squigs & 2 herders (cymbols & pokey stick)
10 goblin wolf riders (7 way oop, + the Rippa Snarlfangs 3 pack)
1 Loon boss on giant squig
5 super oop Orc Boar Riders
20 super oop Orc melee boyz (including champion/standard/musician)
3 Goblin Doom Diver Catapults
2 super oop Leadbelchers (goblin organ guns)
1 super oop Skullkrusha (an orc/goblin stone thrower)
8 "Melee" goblins - they'll get used as unit champions
3 goblin musicians
8 assorted goblin standard bearers (though I think one or two of them might actually be Forest Goblin shamans)
21 assorted crew for the warmachines
72 goblin spearmen
85 goblin archers
Oops, forgot the 10 fanatics....
I started this "Goblin Project on on May 10th. For those counting, that's 2890 models (317 if you count rider & wolf/boar/squig/each "half" of mangler squigs as separates) in 5.5 weeks.

Mixed in with all the goblins I also I also painted up:
D&D:
1 Druid (other players character)
2 Human noblemen NPCs
1 Grell
1 giant snake

Black Seas by Warlord Games:
26 ships - 3 even fleets (Brits/French/Spanish + a few extra ships & the USS Constitution) - though I still have to attach the sails & finish the thread rigging.

Oh, and I built a (temporary) game table! I have both a 6x4 & an 8x4 board (both double sided, one side green/one side tan) & about 50 stands of trees for it.

I've been busy.

That's some commitment! You could play those armies as is when the time comes. I'm thinking of doing that just for the fun of it, regardless of whether it's sensible or not and if somebody else is up for some stupidity once we're gaming again.

Let's See:

- 2 Captains in Phobos armor
- 1 Librarian in Phobos armour
- 1 Lieutenant in Phobos armour
- 3 Suppressors
- 6 Eliminators
- 10 Infiltrators
- 1 Predator Tank
- 1 Redemptor Dreadnought
- 1 kitbashed Techmarine
- 7 intercessors (some kitbashed)

- 1 Imperial Knight and magnetizations

- 1 Canoness,

Its been almost 90 days of Shelter in Place here and I had a pretty big plastic pile of shame to start with..

Still need to do the Chaos half of Shadowspear, the Primaris half of Dark Imperium, and to get to my orks - which was 2000 pts that was simple-greened and stuffed in a box.

For me & my closest circle the times already here. Actually it never left.... It just shifted from mostly at the local shop with a large extended group to several of our homes between only 4-5 of us. Why do you think I built a table? I have to do my share now & host some war games

I paint when one of the the following conditions are in effect:
1) The whim strikes, 2) There's some need, 3) The stars align, 4) In times of great stress/depression/anxiety.
*The Goblin Project is the result of #3 (too much spare time atm) & #4. The result is I've now painted every goblin I own.
*The D&D stuff is a weak #2. Mostly after painting a block of 30 or 40 identical goblin spearmen you just need to take a moment & paint something that's NOT another damned goblin.....
*The Black Seas ships are absolutely #2. There is NO practical way to complete the thread rigging & then go back & paint the models. The thread rigging is optional (you could just attach the sails & it'll look alright for a game), but If you decide to do that step then the sequence is build, paint, rig. This painting of lots of tiny ships was actually started in late Feb & simply benefited from life grinding to a halt in March. The rigging is a tedious process & thus proceeds slowly. But it'll be worth it in the end.

Took a pic to celebrate my 100th day in Shelter In Place. These models were all bare plastic when SiP started:

Nice. I like the color scheme on the marines.

Painting Within the Lines

So let's get a list going, shall we?

Since COVID began, I've painted the following:
Mephiston
10 BA Vanguard Veterans
5 Sisters of Battle
1 Deathwatch Captain
10 Dark Angel Intercissors
15 Blood Angel Assault Marines
10 Biel Tan Guardians
5 Biel Tan Wraithguard
10 Cadians
5 Deathwatch Hellblasters
20 Dark Angel Scouts
10 Dark Angel Infiltrators
40 Dark Angel Tactical Marines
20 Dark Angel Devastators
5 Dark Angel Assault Marines
12 Termagaunts
3 Rippers
1 Dark Angel Company Master
1 Dark Angel Phobos Master
1 Dark Angel Phobos Lieutenant
15 Dark Angel Hellblasters
3 Dark Angel Suppressors
10 Elysian Shock Troops
Brighid and Caul (Circle Orboros)
40 Bolt Action British Late War Infantry
And started most of a Zone Mortalis board.

Contrast helps a lot, but so does a methodical, rhythmic painting process. "Assembly Line" painting does wonders; paint a full squad of 10 with 1 color first, then another color, then their wash, then their highlights and reshading, etc. Easy to bang out a squad in about 2 hours or so.
