Someone's gotta put the bug in Andrea's ear to get a helmeted option for the hero, especially the mount.

That's a great looking lizard mount and I'd rather not have to fiddle with a bunch of different 3D programs to try cutting and pasting parts to make a cavalry unit.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

So Greg did test prints of the Dark Alfar Queen, and it turns out
she has two different sculpts. See if you can spot the difference?

Nice. I think they've adapted well to the medium of 3d printing. Whereas
raging heroes themselves have a fine patreon now, the models have lots of
fine details that can be challenging to print well. The Artisan Guild sculpts
feel "made" for 3d printing, or at least everyman 3d printing. For example,
when they do things like fur, it's like an impressionistic fur with hairs and
not many lines of deep cuts that might need its own series of supports in
order to print well.

That's been my experience at least.

Their models are fantastic. I've been a backer for quite a while and everything prints really well, especially with the pre-supported versions now available

Agreed. That's why I haven't backed for any RH stuff yet while I've done some Artisan Guild. I wasn't surprised to see RH jump in after the titanic success of Titan Forge (rimshot) on Pateron but them and a few others I've seen have stuff that looks cool but a nightmare to print.

Presupported models seem to be the way of the future for a lot of these bigger Patreons moving forward.

From a consumer standpoint, and with more people jumping on the 3D printing bandwagon (myself included), it makes sense to include it. Especially seeing as how much money and backers some of these larger ones are pulling in now, I think they can afford to.
It does leave a lot of up and comers in a bit of a predicament though. I've noticed some do a good job, some have just included whatever autosupports were generated (I won't name names, but I got the same results they did when playing with supports in Chitubox).

The RH models aren't that bad when it comes to supports either- I've used the predone ones as well as my own and they've come out fine. It's more just being careful during cleanup that's the issue.

Yep, that's pretty much my issue when I said it would be a pain.

Supports aren't even hard to add. I moved from Chitu to Prusa slicer as it does a better job in my opinion (and then slick in chitu as I don't have a prusa sla). But getting supports off small fiddly stuff without breaking them...that's not fun and I would really have to love a model to put that effort into it.

Andrea's been sharing updates to their old sets that will be free to people
who've bought them as Kickstarters, Patreons, or on MyMiniFactory. The
intended release date is whenever they're done updating the weapon hands,
the new models for the sets, and the pre-supports.

Worth mentioning is that their ogres got rereleased as a set of modular fighters, along with a piece of terrain, an ogre pinup, and a giant crab mount for the cannon- wielding model to ride on top of.

It is just me or do they look like they're going for not Elder Scrolls stuff for June and July? No going to complain, especially for June's. July isn't as strong visually gives a Altmar vibe from the latter games.

June seams pretty self explanatory as it's very Morrowind even the building looks like a model from the game.

The July Elves make me think of Thalamar(sp?) that are a group of Altmar (high elves) that run basically an emperor worship inquisition after defeating the imperials. Again it's not very artistically similar but thematically it is to me.

It might be a bit of a stretch and I'm just making some logic jumps due to the new game out and that June's probably does some inspiration from Morrowind as it's probably the most well known setting with carapaces like that. Obviously there's some GW influence too, as I'm sure most of their backers are for those game lines, but it just seams interesting that both months could be substitutions for things for a Call to Arms down the road.

It's totally Morrowind inspired. It's a bit Monster Hunter inspired as well reading through the background Andrea posted. Shades of Dark Sun as well.

Which all make for a nice and gritty post apocalyptic- like desert setting. All we need now are the Nausicaa inspired armor sets!

I might need to print up some of the dwarf oathbreaker guns and really let things go all Mad Max style...

You can get some fairly good prints from FDM for minis designed to be printed by one. You have to print really slow and have your machine settings tuned just right. Fat Dragon have one for the ender3 that's probably the best.

Artisan Guild stuff are not designed for an FDM and in no way would print well.
