Neat. A second starter box was desperately needed for Riot Quest.

I'm not sure if Kickstarter is the best approach for it. Has anyone else done PP kickstarters before? Do they do a lot of KS exclusives? I hate those.

My theory is they're doing kickstarter due to the lost cash influx from two major
convention cancellations, their own just this month, and Gencon in august.

I can't think if they did exclusives for warcaster.

They did exclusives for one of their boardgames, Widower's Woods, but haven't for anything else I've seen. Even the art book "exclusive" mini was just early access to a general retail release.

I might back it. I ordered Riot Quest earlier in the week. See if I can get a chance to play it.

I haven't played Riot Quest yet, but I kind of like the idea of themed seasons. Taking place up north hopefully means we'll see some cool Khador and Legion models (one of the silhouettes seems to have a Juggernaut axe and one looks like it could be Vayl). Though I don't know that I'll ever get used to the "Saturday morning cartoon" art style for existing characters (like Feora).

Hey, me too! My starter should arrive on Saturday. I actually ordered it a month ago, but my order slipped between the couch cushions at PP's warehouse.

Don't always post minicrate stuff but this one is pretty good.

Magnus was inspired by Ash from Army of Darkness so it's really freaking cool to have an alt reflecting that.

if they want to seriously want to compete with GW, it needs more skulls.

(I do like this sculpt though)

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Just a heads up on PP Minicrate, once you sign up, it is tough to get out of your subscription. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) for the last three months to cancel my subscription.

I only ordered a single miniature (couldn't pass on their cool Conan), but they automatically renew your "subscription" even if you just select a month to month subscription. They say you can cancel anytime but despite cancelling all future payments and confirming that there were no future subscriptions or scheduled bills, I still got billed this month. I can't find a way to "unsubscribe" using their account portal, so I emailed customer service. My account showed no subscriptions and no future bills, but still got billed. Maybe I'll get lucky with customer service since I apparently inadvertently subscribed to the end of time.

Buyer beware. The whole thing left me with a sour taste in my mouth towards PP. Feels very deceptive and "Gotcha!".

Besides, they pooped the bed with an inexplicable Conan with M60 machine gun miniature scheduled soon. Why?

This one seems like an awkward shot. Would like to see a different angle.

I've had good experinces with their customer support but it doesn't surprise me they're hard to cancel. That's part the course with just about any "crate"

Yes. The first Conan from the Savage Crate was a comic cover.

I've subbed and stopped a few times now with no issues. You even got me to go double check I wasn't accidentally paying for nothing still. That sucks you're having issues with it.

That said I'm absolutely not a fan of the crate system and would rather they do print on demand or something with these models. Something. There's plenty of work that's gone into them.

Since it's all computer sculpted offer up variants as a loophole to get reprints done or something. Do high end 3D prints. Something.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Boomhowler the Destroyer via Hungerford. This is one of the new Riot Quest figures:

I'm bummed that I missed out on Alexia and the more recent 00 Di Bray, although since the VIP miniature continues to be the worst part of the whole mini-crate thing, I'm not sure I would have been in a position to get them anyway.

Oddly, the resale market for these continues to be non-existent in the UK. I cant tell if it is because there are very few subscribers in the UK, or if we are just being more frugal and pledgeing only for the miniatures we want.

This is what got me to finally try riotquest. Privateer willing to just do cool figures that they never could beofore as they'd be too out of place for the wargame. Minicrate has sculpts like that sometimes but Riotquest is just filled with them.

The maps are what convinced me, but Riot Quest does have some really cool models. I thought Chuck Dogwood's hand puppet was the best thing ever, then I discovered that he has an sequinned eagle on his cape...

I didn't realize that's a Juggernaut's axe he's lugging. Jeez!

I think I'm down to just the goblin to paint from the starter. Slowly (very slowly) getting there!

Are the mats worth picking up? I've been kind of tempted but unsure of the quality.

That axe is too huge for me to even begin to take that art seriously.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

I have the mat for the starter set map (Thunderhead Fortress), and I'm pretty happy with it (PP's online store has it for 25% off right now, with free domestic shipping at $50 - edit: Ah, you have a Canadian flag icon... shipping won't be free then). The printing is pretty good. Pretty sharp and bright colors. I think it is a big upgrade over the paper version. The other two maps (Hullgrinder and Temple of Concord) are only available as neoprene mats. I don't think paper versions exist.

It's pretty much "what if there was a 80's Saturday Morning Cartoon based on the Iron Kingdoms". It's ridiculous which is quite refreshing from all the normal serious stuff out there. Still not sure the name is the best but it does match the tone.
