I've looked around a lot, even helped others find what they were looking for, but I want to see what all of you have done with the models so I can get a more real feel for them beyond the picture perfect models displayed on their websites.
I'm looking for pictures of your paintjobs, from full armies to single models. Any 3rd party miniature works, from my favorites like Victoria Miniatures, Anvil Industry, and Wargames Exclusive to lesser seen models like those from Kromlech, Scibor, and HiTech Miniatures. Even DIY models like Heroforge and Shapeways 3D printed. The only 3rd party I'm not looking for is the ones that unfortunately money can't buy, like your friends homemade Warlord Titan or your personal 3D printed/sculpted pieces you don't plan on selling copies of. I've seen some great examples of each of those on this site and there are some beauties, but they don't help me in this case.
Just show us what you got from available sources and what you've done with them. I look forward to seeing some awesome pieces and sets. Thanks in advance.

The one and only 3rd party model I ever got made me regret the purchase. Clean pretty pictures of 3D renders fooled me once.
Now i tend to auto-ignore anything that does not have actual model on sprue from 3rd party lads.
Have some Scibor rifle dwarfs from years ago, not my paintjob, unfortunatly not very exiting models in person.
With time I am convicted more and more in superieor quality of sculpts and molds from GW.
Even through sculpting, I have learned just how well designed GW sculpts are.
Is ReaperBones count? cuz I got lots of those

Do you count mixing and matching GW WITH 3d party or just a pure 3rd party miniature? Cause I got LOTS of the former.

If you're looking for some old-school Rogue Trader miniatures, Wargames Foundry has a few. https://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/ex-citadel-games-workshop-models The fishmen were originally used to playtest Rogue Trader, IIRC. Of the Empirical Absolution and Liquidation Squad, a couple of them appeared in the Rogue Trader rulebook, while the others were Arbites and a scribe that didn't make it to production back in the 80's. Bryan Ansell took a bunch of molds with him when he left Citadel/ GW, including those.

I have quite a lot, but I will gladly take the opportunity to share some of my favourites:
Here I got some pretty nice Pygmies from Wargames Foundry that - with some modification - make for great ratling standins for people that don't really like GWs Version of them.
A Psyker/Astropath from Kromlech
Next of: Victoria Miniatures Moss Guard bodies can make for some nice african style soldiers too, as the kilts resemble some clothing from there with a fitting painting. The heads are from Puppetswar, the feathered head and some of the arms from Ghost Archipelago Tribals, the shields from Wargames Foundry, the grenade launcher from Kromlech
Ghost Archipelago Tribals with Victoria Miniatures arms, Wargames Foundry shields and CC weapons
Copplestone Castings NGoni Chiefs and Witchdoctors as Astropath, Company Commander, Command Squad
Copplestone Castings African Princesses with Victoria Miniatures rifles and a flamer as Infantry squad
Victoria Miniatures Arcadian Guardswomen:
Victoria Miniatures Minis of the month:
Warlord Games Warelephant as Sentinel Powerlifter:
Rough Riders: 1st Fireforge Games Mongols, 2nd Schleich plastic animals with Wargames Foundry Pygmies, Victoria Miniatures Mossguard and Ghost Archipelago tribals as riders.
Victoria Miniatures Autocannons with Crew, Heavy Mortar with Ghost Archipelago Crew, Anvil Industry Missile Launchers on Ghost Archipelago Tribals, Shields from Wargames Foundry
Anvil Industry Characters: Pinup Commissar, Demon Huntress, Knights, Quadcopter and Sentry Pod
Puppetswar Commandos with Anvil Industry Turban heads, Phase Lances and power packs
3rd Party vehicles: Models and Minis Agrius APC, Victoria Miniatures Kangaroo, Secret Weapon Miniatures Rapid Assault Vehicle, Puppetswar Ork Buggy, Puppetswar Hound Scout Car

Probably. What do you use them for in 40k? Automatically Appended Next Post: KingmanHighborn wrote:Do you count mixing and matching GW WITH 3d party or just a pure 3rd party miniature? Cause I got LOTS of the former.
While it wasn't my initial intention, as long as the models are mostly non- GW then I suppose it fits. Like if you made a squad of Guardsmen by putting extra GW weapons, arms, and helmets onto non- GW models.

Wow, so many different models and pieces from various producers all worked into a single army! Those are fantastic. I like the ideas you had mixing parts from several companies to get the theme you wanted.

Yes, ether sculpt or use reaper to beef up the variety in the throng, some scale perfectly, some not so much, depends on the sculptor.
Perfect example are these reaper Halberdiers along side GW slight converted gw.
Rest are here (They all reaper, for now, but planned to be part of the throng as characters or parts of the clan
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/780044.page#10564016
The reason I went with reaper, is that I can see exactly what I am buying.

For 40 K
Use Repaer for IG
(unfortunatly the reaper heavy gun's muzzel was warped and needed to be replaced)
and
I tried to use TEHNOLOG (robogear) https://souldark.ru/category/tehnolog-robogear/ An OLDschool Russian based toy company.
Because the toys are from Polyethylene and for kids, the model cost is a kin to green-armymen. And they look pretty cool!
The only one I had was this small walker.
There are many online toystores that cary Tehnolog, but the problem is not all online stores ship internationaly, and even if they do it cost alot, and requier payment be made via Russian based bank or some other none paypal system.
I have not yet found a good onlinestore that sells Tehnolog that uses paypal, but I have not really looked.
Rest are here

I'm a fan of Puppets War for alternate sci-fi infantry. Here's a bunch of NotMech (Tech Troopers) I painted up recently: The chick is Kimmie Krusher from Raging Heroes, with some PW parts swapped in. Also a couple NotWraiths with the first tech bois. These are much taller and wider than expected, and are also probably being rereleased very soon in a 3.0 version: I've also done a handful of their Fanatics, here's the latest one: And a more Slaaneshi one from a while back: Right now I'm working on a squad of PW's new Prime Strikers (Not-Primaris): Fully magnetized the lads, which is fidgety but fun. Love the design for big sci-fi power armor dudes.

Ah yes, the extra large power fist bird. Reminds me of the old angry marines meme. Funny that the last guy is also giving the bird. A truly universal symbol.
Good stuff all around. I might get a squad of those fanatics myself. Been trying to find a good way to get some cultists without shelling out GW prices. I also dislike having the same five detailed minis repeated a lot. It's one thing if they're in non-descript robes and masks designed to provide unified anonymity, but it's annoying when it's five distinct models over and over again. Know what I mean?

NP, and thanks! In the last year or so PW has really upped their game, resin-wise. The Prime Strikers had two bubbles across the entire set, and those were in older axe sculpts, not the Primes themselves. The Tech Troopers (all 13 of them I've painted) had a couple bubbles in the robes to fill, and one deformed gun barrel that I just painted extra glowy blue PW has actually been pulling down older sculpts, updating the files and rereleasing them as cleaner versions - so like the Fanatics I've got here are the first generation, which have since been recast in better resin / with better QA. It also helps that the new website is MUCH more stable than the old one SergentSilver wrote:Ah yes, the extra large power fist bird. Reminds me of the old angry marines meme. I love the Fanatics, and had been looking for Cultists for years, especially since GW's didn't hit the mark for me. With so many heads available you can tailor the mob of them enough to fit your army without being obtrusively individual or stealing the show from their CSM masters. Oh! I've painted the minigun Fanatic too, I'll dig up a photo. Great heavy stubber, tho again, mine was version 1.0 and had a sad bubble in a barrel that had to be resculpted, but such is resin life.

Insect-Infested Nurgle Chaos Lord

I use a fair few, especially in my Nurgle forces. There are either straight up entire minis or parts sprinkled about here and there throughout the entire army. Reaper is especially good for parts for Chaos armies.
Heresy minis Madame as an alt GUO
Avatars of War Harbinger of Pestilence.
GF9 Zuggtmoy as a Nurgle Daemon Prince( ss).
WargameExclusive not Mortarion.
DP made from Scibor Rotten Lord 2 and various other Reaper Bones and PP parts.
Heresy minis Fallen Boris. Used as various things. Orginally made it to be an alt Typhus.
PuppetsWar Plague Gentleman (plus a giant palanquin, as he's a bit small)
MoMiniatures conversion. Used as a Noxious Blightbringer. Also bonus 3rd party Nurgling on his base.
Those are all the ones I have immediate pics of.

Nurgle. I hate his grossness, but I love that Feel No Pain. Still my least favorite Chaos God as far as actually fielding his units. Just not into Papa's corruption.
I did recently get some old plague daemons and converted Nurgle Sorcerer for my collection since they were really cheap, nicely painted, and I was already getting a few other equally cheap old models from the same seller.

@BossSalvage That Kimmie looks really dope!
@SergentSilver I don't have painted specimens of 3rd party 40k minis, at least no heavily converted ones. But I have tons of unpainted 3rd party minis I use for bits/textures.

That's unfortunate. As much as I like looking at all well done models, I need to keep this on topic lest it become a 20 page all-you-can-post of unrelated things. If I wanted that, I could spend the next year browsing the Dakka Galleries. Perhaps at some point I'll start one for WFB/ AoS or just 3rdP in general where those will fit better.
