Yep. 6 24" range melta shots for 100-125pts? So glad I have to pay 105 points for 4 melta shots on a unit with much worse stats.
We might finally have a contender for another actually OP primaris unit.

More like 100 points - 110 tops.
On the plus side I really like the new data sheet design.

How they do that? Gravis can't deepstrike and they can't go in pods. Ravenguard strat can drop them in but that's not a deepstrike.

Glad to see marines have better melta-units than sororitas.

lemme get this straight,
They will probs be cheaper then Melta chosen are allready cheaper then Melta chosen PL wise infact, with more wounds, and a melta with double shots, with doctrines and all whistles.
Okay GW.

Wish they'd just fixed the original Melta stuff rather than just superseding it with this nonsense tbh. Another one to add to my list of Primaris Things Which Are Stupid and I Hate.

I assume that this is supposed to make this more acceptable, so that i can atleast be getting beaten by OP units WITH nice looking rules right?
I mean yea, the new design is nice, just the content of it is nonsense.....

A battle sister with a melta gun is 23 points. One of these bastards is around 35 points despite 3x the wounds, 2 additional toughness, and a gun that has double the range and double the number of shots. This is the first primaris unit I've seen that I legitimately hate.

We only have the power level, but it is not high enough going by typical conventions. GW need to nerf the gak out of these guys straight out of the gate. Automatically Appended Next Post:

Yup, I think these guys are a bit too good for my liking. Love the look of the models, so I'll pick them up anyways, but I'm probably going to just not use the Obliteration rule. They'd be fine without that., and maybe just having them as 18" melta rifles instead of 24".

Fire Dragons - members of a dying race - are suicide units that barely do a dent, and then the Emperor's jokers bring this on the table.
I usually don't get salty about game changes, but this is punching me in the gut hard.

Maybe regular metlas become dirt cheap? Even then....I have no idea how to reconcile this. Automatically Appended Next Post: Eldarsif wrote:Fire Dragons - members of a dying race - are suicide units that barely do a dent, and then the Emperor's jokers bring this on the table.

Between the bikes and these obvious OP melta marines (anyone theory craft what they can do as salies) GW is really trying to make sure this box sells.
Marines had issues with t8 armor and these guys are a solution but marines just can't be everyone else +1 (but cheaper). I like trying to theorycraft around marines terribly inefficient anti-armor but these guys are just straight up auto include.
The cash grab is painfully obvious and things are not looking good for the newly "most play tested version ever." There's still a lot to see and we don't know what is happening with the rest of the game but the slow leak is not inspiring any confidence in this not being marines are op v. 2...

tell me daed:
Chosen are PL7 these are PL 5.
A squad of chosen with melta clocks in at 131 pts atm. Assuming csm / chosen bodies only get a 20% hike they'd be about 16ppm / in 9th... so 151 pts.
So they are somehow LESS then 5 Chosen with meltas pts wise..
tell me, when was the last time people used chosen?
beyond the nice datasheet, IS that ok with you?

Maybe our Miracle Dice shenanigans are supposed to compensate? Or their low model count? I dunno... these seem very broken for their predicted cost. Gotta sell those box sets I guess.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that they NEED to come in from reserves as there is no cheap transport to get them in range. But 1 CP isn't really addressing the issue.

Since we're doing fun math, three Twin Fusion Crisis suits are points-wise 50% more expensive, and PL wise 140% more expensive while doing less.

They can run and shoot on a 44" board with a 24" gun. What aren't they gonna be in range of?
