. Goes up for pre order soon but I heard it will be limited. What’s the risk there won’t be enough to go round?

We really don't know. This could be on the shelves for months, or it could sell out before the preorder cycle is over.

If you are concerned about it, your best bet is to just put in a preorder with your FLGS or once they go up on GW. I personally would not count on them sticking around for that long.

I've never seen the starter set for an edition not be available (while that edition is current of course). I'm nearly 100% sure it's just marketing hype. You may have to wait a bit after the initial release to find a set if you don't preorder, but I can't imagine a world where they aren't essentially always available until the next edition.

It's got 'exclusive' Primaris in it, the new rulebook and probably want to avoid another Sisters scenario. My guess is it'll take a few days for it to sell out. I doubt it will be a, "If you're not logged in at 10:00 you've got no chance."

If it's priced close to Dark Uprising (which I think it will be) that might stunt it a bit too.

They have specifically said that this is not a starter set for the edition, and this is a limited edition launch set for veterans.

They have been very clear on that. This is not a Dark Imperium equivalent that sticks around for a whole edition.

If you pre order you're guaranteed a set apparently.
After that it will be limited print runs.

Winter's just put an unboxing video up. Necrons look to be push fit surprisingly.

They will not tell you, because the whole point is to take advantage of FOMO to sell more of them.

For all we know they will print as many additional runs as they feel like to keep up with demand, no matter what they're saying now about it being limited.

Not so surprising.
...all these amazing new miniatures are indeed in the Indomitus box! What’s more, they’re all push fit, so you won’t even need glue to frenziedly assemble them when you get your hands on a copy!

The set is being made once and thereafter never again. This means its limited in that GW has one block of stock and once its over its over.

Regular starter sets for editions are instead reprinted through the life of the edition so that they always remain in stock into the long term.

That's the key difference. Now will it sell out on pre-order day 1 or will it hang around for most of 9th edition - that is impossible to guess. Even GW won't fully know the answer to that until they put it to the test and put it up for sale.

Also don't forget some people will be getting doubles, triples etc... some will be getting it for the book alone or one army. So if you miss out DO hunt up facebook/forums/ebay as in the first weeks of release is the best time you'll get sensible deals on the price of the contents.

I’d urge caution.

They’ve not clearly stated whether it’s a limited number, or limited time period. At least, I’m not aware they’ve clarified.

I seem to recall in one of their general talks it was the number not the time that was limited. But that was in one of their streams so I'd never find it now (one of the early ones though if anyone wants go hunting).

In general I'd say if you're a necron or marine player and you want it - go get it as soon as you can afford too. The rulebook we know isn't limited and the models themselves we also know are not limited; its purely the discount price that you're after. Although past experience is that some unique characters in sets can be harder to get hold of for a long while after and GW can be slow at bringing those to market

They have said multiple contradictory things about it. First that the number was limited, then that everyone who pre-ordered would get one.

The only safe bet is that GW is going to do whatever they think makes them the most money.

Third option: GW doesn't actually know.

I'll be hitting F5 a fair few times come the 11th though.

They've created a lot of confusion with this release. It's "limited" but not like their limited editions normally are. It's "not a starter set" but basically is. If you really want one the best bet is to order when the pre-orders go up, either from GW or through your FLGS.

The launch day price lists are out and a lot of FLGSs are already taking pre-orders, so if you really want to be sure to get a copy, reserving one today is your best bet.

Yeah.

Anyone might think they’re an actual business with share holders and therefore primarily interested in making money!

These types of boxes are only actually limited if you buy GW direct. Most brick and mortars and ebay sellers will have plenty. Same deal as with the SoB box. Sold out instantly online, could have bought 10 and left some on the shelf locally.

Rumor is $200 for the box. They just gave away the core rules so if you're not a Necron player (likely) or a Marine player (not as unlikely as GW seems to think) then you don't need it at all.

So I just pre-ordered through my LGS, $200 for the box. He's also offering a deal where if you pre-order, you get $50 in free GW paints, so that's a pretty awesome deal!

Or you get the $65 Core Rules book that releases at the same time as Indomitus so you have all of the rules.

Have we heard of any UK stores doing pre-orders yet and confirmed prices?

GW said its the single largest print run of any product they have ever made, and that they expect it to be on the shelves for a few months before it sells out - so to answer your question, "limited, but not very".

I think you missed the point (again). It wasn't a criticism, just an observation.

And yes, it is contradictory. If the total number is limited, it wouldn't be possible to guarantee one to everyone who pre-orders. That implies that they will produce more if necessary to meet the pre-order numbers. It isn't limited if they will adjust the numbers based on demand if necessary to make sure everyone who preorders will get one.

In any case, nothing is actually ever really limited. GW can always decide to just make it again if they think it will make they money to do so.
