I'm thinking about painting up our RPG party for fun, so I'm looking for a good range of fantasy archetypes, good ranges of races, classes, etc. Not sure about the exact scale, but definitely looking for something classic and well-executed, not too cartoony or campy. I'm sure some of you have a favorite source... photos and links definitely welcome. Thanks!

Definitely reaper, and with the bones lines and kickstarters you can get more than you'll ever need for very little money.

Have a look at my P&M blog - currently working on Sons of Horus

Reaper is the go to, but other options include Dark Sword for for both classic style stuff, goofy furry stuff, and game of thrones, and wargames foundry, particularly their Warmonger miniatures sub-brand for older style stuff (much of it literally old old school GW/citadel)

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Reaper bones like mentioned before.
Have not seen that much variety at low cost from anyone else!
Quality has its own verity, depending on the sculptor some models awesome so are abysmal imo.

Thanks, y'all... Reaper seems the dominant choice, but I'll check out those others as well.

If you're looking to have models that are very similar to your own party - and don't mind paying a premium or have access to a 3D printer - , you could go for Heroforge. Literally make and pose your own miniature from a huge amount of predesigned parts and objects. It's fairly expensive if you pay them to make it especially if you get it made in bronze, but just getting the files for 3D printing is only $7.99.

Be cautious before you jump into the Reaper Bones range with both feet. It's PVC like a lot of 1/72 historical kits, meaning a lot of bendy weapons and difficult-to-remove mould lines. I swore off them (and at them) after my first pack of Bones minis, I'd rather pay for the metal versions. But YMMV: others like them well enough and I hear the newer Bones Black stuff is a big improvement. Just try one out first.

Yeah, Bones black is amazing. Got a few of them, it's made of a more rigid material than old Bones. For big stuff, Bones is a hill I'm willing to die on, but smaller stuff is excellent for harvesting parts from and not a lot more in several cases.

Reaper Bones (and green stuff) is how I got 10 Blightkings out of a box of 5.
