Hey fantasy fans

8th edition Wood Elves player here, I decided to put together a new army and settled upon Lizardmen, mostly because they just look so damn awesome. I've been slowly building up my collection over time and am now trying to put together a 2k list. I've not actually played a game with the lizzies before so this list could be a bit hit & miss, but I'm hoping I can get some feedback/ideas from you fine folk here. I'm hoping to get a game against my regular opponent some time later this year, depending on the current situation of course (I live about 250 miles away from him but he lives very close to my family which I try and visit a couple times a year, so we usually get to sneak a game in). My opponent is an Orcs & Goblins player, but I'm not interested in making a specific counter list, just something fairly balanced.

Well, on to the list:

The tictacs:

So with the slann going in the TG block (of course), BSB in Saurus block, I'll run the ancient steg inbetween the 2 infantry blocks providing ward save. Chameleon skinks will hunt warmachines and be a nuisance, skirmishers will harrass and annoy from the flanks, and the Bastiladon will protect the opposite TG flank to the steg, to keep the slann as safe as poss (the theory at least). With the slann being high magic loremaster he'll have some good spells and some I can swap out for others with the lore attribute. I'm not sure about the harmonic convergence + channel staff, sounds cool but is 45 pts better spent elsewhere? The skink priest is there to cast Wyssans on the infantry. I'm not 100% on the skink priest actually, I plan to put him in with one of the skimishers as having him run solo is asking for trouble, but I might be able to cope without him entirely. Also as I've typed all this I've just realised I haven't factored in a dispel scroll!

Elsewhere in my collection I have available if needed: 16 cold one cavalry, another 20 saurus, another 6 skinks, old-blood/scar-vet on carnosaur, old-blood/scar-vet on foot.

The only snag with the above list is that I have't actually got a Slann model yet, as GW have been out of stock. I plan on grabbing one asap, but if I can't for any reason, I'll have to change the list up to fill that gap.

Thanks for reading and I'm grateful for any guidance or ideas you might have

Looks like a cool, fun list. Nothing crazy competitive but can act in all stages of the game.

Maybe consider Ripperdactyles instead of Chameleon Skinks? They ability to fly over targets and take out warmachines ASAP is pretty clutch.

Maybe drop the Basildon for another Stegadon and drop the Engine of the Gods off the one you have to save points. The Engine was pretty bad in 8th if I remember correctly. The Blow guns are better IMO.

You are also able to make your Slaan the BSB of the army too instead of the Scar Vet, something to consider. The Slaan is pretty hard to take out unless they miscast hard. Then you could beef up that Scar Vet with better gear. I think He'd be better off with a Great Weapon, Armour of Silvered Steel and possibly the Iron Curse Icon or Dragonbane Gem.

You could also drop the Talisman of Endurance on your Skink Priest and take maybe take the Earthing Rod just in case your Slaan miscasts and is about to blow up himself and his entire unit

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
40K is fantasy in space, not sci-fi
