Well, after being out of the hobby for ages, I've decided to make the mistake of buying back in because I absolutely love the Admech models.

Those look great! I like the darker tones against the metallics. Excited to see more. Do you have any of those higgins-boat looking transports in the works? I'd love to see one in this paint-scheme.

I'm just happy the metallics look metallic, I'm always worried my NMM will end up too grey or yellow to look like metal at all.

I do have one of the boats, and I'll probably pick up another in a Start Collecting box, but it's on the back burner as I've picked up a stupid amount of stuff. My original list ran a good number of them, but with the points nerf I'll probably bench it in favor of other units.

That and right now I'm planning to finish a Dominus, Dunecrawler, and box of Kataphrons in order to show a completed old Start Collecting box with one set of Kataphrons as a Combat Patrol group. That way I can get a few games in and test my theory build that I've been advising to others as an option for starting out.

Dang. I didn't even notice that was NMM. That's some fine work.

I'm just happy it came out looking like what it's supposed to, so that's quite a good complement.

Thanks, after having some time away from the models I've gotten to like it a lot more. I could probably do better on the Vanguard helms though, the one I'm working on now with the Plasma Culiver is one I'm excited about because I think the helmet came out very nicely. Should have it done by the weekend as I'm taking my time with it.

I'm working on a Plasma Vanguard right now that I'm really happy with how it's coming out so far. Should be up by the weekend.

Just finished up a Plasma Vanguard. Took a leisurely pace with this one, I think it came out ok but there's definitely things I can improve going forward. Pardon the lighting, the sun was not cooperating:

+1 to this. I might even try to replicate it!

Also, +1 to the paint scheme, looks great, and is unique.

Thanks, I like how it came out as well. The purple and blue plasma is actually inspired by those plasma ball toys we saw as kids. You know, the one you plug in and it has the electricity on the inside a fish bowl that's a purple and blue color, and if you touch it moves to where you're touching it.

I'm working on a Dominus right now and I think it's coming out really well. I hope it looks as good as I think when it's done. It should be up next weekend.

It's pretty easy to make, it's only three colors. Vallejo purple 70.959, Flat Blue 70.962, White 70.951, I just did a base coat of blue, then did 2 sections of 1/4th in a blue-white mix, then a white highlight. Afterwards I filled in the other 2/4ths with purple, white-purple mix, and white.

I think for future versions I'll do a 1/3rd to give it a less chessboard look and more of a swirl.

Nice start of your army, love the dark color scheme, makes them look more sinister than the usual bright red robes. Excited to see the Kataphrons, they will look great in your scheme.

Thanks. I like having a sinister look, but I don't usually have a sinister made up lore to my faction. The general idea is that it's a faction of Admech that has no known forge world (although one may exist) but has a massive fleet that functions as a forge world, and functions as a mercenary force for others in exchange for tech and troops. Think of it as a sort of Rogue Trader Admech, as Rogue Traders are allowed to handle Xenos tech, as well as even the smallest of them having extensive riches and fleets.

Coincidentally the scheme is not completely unlike Triplex Phall which I think is my favorite of the forge worlds, simply because it doesn't care about being a obstinate, going as far as either refusing Mars or giving them STCs only for Mars to find out some critical component is missing in the information. Stygies aren't far behind either thanks to their Xenorites and other secrets.

The Kataphrons are close to the top of the list. I'm finishing up the Dominus now which I think looks fantastic so far, and then it's a Dunecrawler so that I can finish on of the start collecting boxes. After that it's at least one Kataphron box so I can present a Combat Patrol group picture, and I'm excited to paint Kataphrons.

My pile of shame is so far: 2x of each Start Collecting Box, 2x Raider Boxes, 2x Electro-Priest boxes, 3x Ironstriders, 4x Kataphron boxes, 1x Pteraxii boxes, 1x Kastelan boxes, 1x Archeoraptor boxes. I think I need more Kataphrons.

Finished the Dominus Finally, I really like how he came out. I'm upset you can't clearly see the Mechadendrite in the picture as it was one of the first parts of him that I did and I think it came out very well. Might take some more pictures to better capture some elements that aren't as visible in these. Dunecrawler is next to finish out the first full box of models and reduce my pile of shame.

Thanks, I had a great time painting that guy, and I really like how the liquid and jars themselves came out. The coil isn't my favorite but I still like it.

Good ol' tiny sword skull. He ended up staring into space or has a look like he's swaying around, I really should have checked how it would look on a base before gluing the skull on. Still looks fine though.

Update for my Dunecrawler WIP, I'm way behind on this model but it's the first time I've painting anything of this size. It's an absolutely beautiful model but damn is it hard to paint because of how detailed it really is.

Thanks, I will probably take better pictures of some things in the near future. So far I've taken pictures and emailed them as a batch from my phone, which has resulted in some compression that I didn't want, especially on the Dominus which I want larger images of. What I should do is just plug a USB into my computer and upload it, that way I can scale the images without pixelation.

I should mention I do feel like my blending of colors isn't the best, so the low resolution does benefit me to some extent as my paint style is very flat.

Thanks, it was a lot of fun painting larger lenses.

This Dunecrawler is a lot of work though, it's way bigger than it appears, and building it is a whole project within itself. I'm very impressed with the Admech models.

Dunecrawler is finished, for now at least. This was the first time tackling a model this big and complex, and it was a major learning experience. I'm not completely happy with how it came out, but I don't hate it either. C&C always welcome.

After finishing my first Dunecrawler I wanted to work on something a bit smaller and quicker. I have to say, a lot of people hate the Electro-Priest models but after working on one of these, it's actually rather good. The only annoying thing about it was the sprue connections on the thin hanging wire which caused one to break off. Pardon the lighting for the model as well, I finished it later than I'd have liked so lighting sources were limited.

Thanks, I really enjoyed painting the Electro-priest more than I originally assumed I would.

I'm kind of surprised how slow these forums are, I feel like they used to be more active back in the day.
