Simple question as I am interested in using some Vallejo floiresent paints on the upcoming necrons, however they don't make a dedicated brush on red in the form. They do, however, make on for their model air range. So I am wondering if it would work being brushe onto the model. I would gusse that it is a much thinner paint than normal and moght require more layers, but at the same time the flouresent paints are very high pigment so it might not matter?

Anyone tried this or got any thoughts?

I use "airbrush" paints with a brush all the time. It's fine. They tend to be a bit thinner, but often highly-pigmented. They're very nice to use. The Model Air metallics are fantastic.

I have some of those flourescent paints as it happens, although I haven't used them all that much. They're a bit sludgy and awkward to use. The ones of them I have are the Model Colour versions though - I haven't tried the red.

Take this as a one off example cuz that is what it is.
I have the artic blue from their air metallic range and it is quite thick. had no problemd using it as a regular paint for hairbrush.

But in general paint ment for airbrushes that comes naturaly thin, is not ideal for hairbrush. it will pool very easily in the nuks and cracks while barly leaving any paint at all on the flat spots.
But if the paint is thick, you can use it. thing is that it is impossible to know before you actualy pour out some paint. I have a few bottles of paint ment for AB, half of them are as thick as regualr paint, rest is as milk.

I use mine (Vallejo Air) with a brush. Very nice for doing dry blends (thin paint with many layers to create a graduated blend).

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Airbrush paints typically have a higher carrier to pigment ratio, since you will lose much of the carrier in the atomization (spraying) process. But, that being said, they do have a very high pigment ratio to begin with, so should work as others have described above.

I have recently bought a set of green stuff world Fluor paints. They are very good and suitable for airbrush and brush however as you say are thin. Some colours are thinner than others and their for work better than or worse with a brush but I have found that if you are painting in a bright surface you still won’t find you need too many layers. I assume you are going for the glowing bits which I assume will be based with white or metallic? I am thinking along similar lines once my boxed indomitus arrives so would be interested in your results
