Games Workshop's Shining Spears leaves much to be desired what with their ineffectual-looking weapons, those silly-looking thick antennae, and—the worst thing of all—those static poses.

Is it allowed to discuss third-party Shining Spears here? I'd like to know where people buy them.

If not, it's okay.

I'll order from Games Workshop soon as they fix those static poses.

I don't know about third-party, but quite a few people convert Drukhari Reavers. The latter are really nice models, and pretty cheap at the moment.

I bought a box of wildwood rangers/eternal guard. With the bodies I made 10 rangers and used the spears on the windrider kit to make shining spears.

Check out Ghost Miniatures. They do a fantastic range of shining spear and other jetbike models.

I used Drukhari reavers for mine. With fairings from the CE (old) jetbikes glued over the top of the spiky drukhari ones.

I had a pile of imperial (WHFB) lance arms lying around as well as a bunch of guardian helmets. A bit of hookup wire and they were done.

Windriders hadn't been released yet.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I used the modern wind rider kit plus spear arms from Shapeways (PopGoesTheMonkey has some, as do other artists on there) with magnets at the shoulders so I could turn them into normal bikers if I wanted.
Came out looking pretty good.

Here are the Shining Spears from Ghost Miniatures that I mentioned...

Pop Goes the Monkey sells spear arms that work with the current Windrider kits.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
