Anyone pick up theirs in store today? I haven’t had a chance to open up the box but it is pretty bloody heavy! Dragging it and holding on to two kids while trying to navigate the city centre was challenging to say the least!

Got mine earlier this week already and the model quality is simply amazing. We've come a long way since the 3rd edition starter box with which I came into the hobby.

I had to trim the majority of the press-fit pegs down to get the Marines assembled. Although I also trimmed the arm-pegs off the Assault Intercessors on general principle so their poses would be a bit more varied.

The rule-book is fething huge, and just about half of it is rules. That's a nice change. The tournament pack and munitorum books are novelty sized though.

The models are great, but i was surprised how many mold lines are in terrible places.

Picked mine up this morning, been working through the book this afternoon. It's 200 pages before you even get to the rules.

Models look awesome, FLGS had a display of both army's painted up.
They put a post up not long ago that only 3 of their boxes are so far not picked up. Which will go on a first come, first served basis Monday morning.
CA and the stand alone rulebook both sold out.

I was also surprised by how flipping *heavy* it was. Having got it open, it seems a lot of that was the rulebook, which is absolutely massive. Big improvement on the 8th book in terms of lore to actual useful rules ratio, but I’d really have preferred to see that first 190 extraneous pages separated off into their own book, so I don’t have to lug the entire, massive thing about when I go to play games.

I’ve only had a quick flick through the book, but I particularly like the Open Play section accounting for asymmetrical army sizes – seems to me this provides a good way for newer players to jump in without either having to get a huge collection of stuff together, or persuade people to only play with tiny armies.

Interesting to note the new Captain and Lt, and the new Overlord and the Gun Guy (sorry, I don’t speak fluent Necron) are sharing sprues across a faction lines. Suspect this means those are unique to Indomitus, while we could see the the rest of them popping up as Start Collecting sets down the line.

They're not on the same sprues though, it's just individual sprues linked together for the purposes of this box. You can even go to the GW website and see the sprues as separate pictures. 0 chance those sculpts are going to be unique to Indomitus

Mine arrived this morning, courtesy of the postie. I've had a quick look through the rulebook, which is big, beautifully illustrated and there's a lot of fluff in there to read. Trying to get the figs made up tonight so me and the kids can try them out tomorrow. All in all, it's a great set and should keep me busy for a while

Opened mine up.

Packed with minis. Books look fine, just gave the a quick flip. Will sit down and read later

Started my plan on putting the minis together. Mild mold lines, but sometimes over details. Have not had to carve out my own yet. This was a major issue with the shoulderpads on the DI marines.

Don’t know why it didn’t register with the preview pics, but everyone and their battle-brother has an iron halo on their backpack. OK, just the HQs and vets, but that’s more than there should be. Captain will keep his, and I think the Chaplain. They get the 4++, they get the halo. Snipping the rest.

Tentative plans on leaving some arms unglued for potential magnetization later.

Having fun so far.

Picked mine up today. Holy hell the BRB is BIG. I'll sit down and do the build of the two armies tonight after the sun goes down. It's like 114 degrees outside right now.

Mmmm, pretty models.
Hefty book.

As there's some talk of doing a Crusade at the local shop, I think I'll get started on the Necrons. In 8e I gave my SWs some love, 9th ed it'll be the Necrons turn.
I figure I have some time though. Summers always slow gaming wise at the shop & this pandemic has reduced it to almost non-existent. So I don't foresee this Crusade kicking off immediately. And hopefully in that time the new Necron Codex drops.

Now, what color scheme....

In the meantime, as soon as people have picked up their books and re-calculated their lists, a couple of us will get together & get our 1st game of 9th in.

Got mine, assembled all of the necron mini's save the warriors. Didn't have many issues, the only annoying necron was the destroyer with the reap blade because the instructions tell you to connect his arm to his head (and you do indeed need to do that but it's weird), and his large blade made it a bit annoying to apply the right amount of pressure to get the push fit to slide into place.

Flipped through the book, it's beautiful. The sections on the Imperium sanctus and imperium nhilius don't really have much new lore, but were super enjoyable to read.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Am I being stupid, or am I right in thinking that if you wanna be battle forged, there's no way of fielding the Indomitus Necrons without going multi-detachment?

For the Marine half:
3 HQs (Captain, LT, Chap)
3 Elites (Judicar, Vets, Ancient)
1 troop (Assault intercessors)
1 FA (outrider)
1 HS (Erad)

It’s going to take 2 detachments to get everyone in. One Patrol and a Spearhead. If you MSU and build the 10 intercessors as 2x5 man squads, you could do 2 patrols and save a CP.

Went in on it with a friend and took the Marine half and rulebook. I forgot CA was also coming though so I didn't pick that up yet but not playing atm anyway so not a big deal. I haven't taken a look at the models yet as I'm deciding if I'm going to keep them and start a Space Marine army or sell them to start something else.

On one hand Marines are strong and it's been over 20 years since I had a loyal Space Marine force. On the other, how many other people are going to have them?

Yeah, I noticed that when I picked my BBoD up - I was expecting to see it be the size of CA19, not a fun-size version.

Its 10 Intercessors, so you can have 2 troops, but yes it is 3 HQ's and 3 Elites.

Well, my first thought was that we may see more and more Primaris at the tourney top tables with all their shiny new toys,
while the other factions seem to starve more and more.

-It was a lot easier to get than I thought. Just walked into the LGS and bought one. No battle on the GW web site in the wee hours of the morning, No waiting up to 4 months for the made to order.

-The missions/objectives/terrain rules look exciting and I can't wait to play some games.

-The models look great, as expected. The Marine captain has 3 head options.

-The points for the new units either aren't in the book or I missed them.

hardcover covert art of the "heaven and hell clash" is kind of pretty bad...especially the head of the ultramarine.

cool minis though. Wish there was some dice included.

The minis are amazing, much better than Dark Imperium, especially the SM part (the DC in dark imperium were great). The rule book is BIG, a bigger format than the 8th ed. book and more pages.

I'm impressed overall. Started putting together assault intercessors last night and the quality is top notch. I've had very few mold lines to deal with so far and the push to fit is decent. I do still glue the backpacks as they seem to fit somewhat loose and some of the arms needed this treatment as well. Rules-wise, I like the new book. The bullet points are helpful and the artwork is great. Honestly, I got pretty burned out on 40k during 8th. Indomitus has re-energized me.

Seeing top tables are already dominated by marines hard to do until codex comes. Maybe gw isn't happy about 68% winrate for mastei race so gives further buffs

Points are in chapter approved 2020. No real loss since without points there points in box would be irrelevant. Better all are in 1 place

It's one of the reasons we know this isn't a starter set - every starter set features dice, as they are aimed at new players, who GW cannae assume own multiple d6.

Started working on mine but made some modifications. Lt and Judiciar got hooded heads for my DA. Bladeguard ancient got his skeleton banner replaced with the Deathwing one. Also replaced skeleton hand and head. Bikes got Ravenwingized. Bladeguard remained as is although I also clipped off the halo, didn't like the look. haven't built Eradicators yet (going to my Ravenguard), or Assault Intercessors (not sure where they are going). Chaplain got a Deathwatch pad added and headed out for his long vigil, Dark Angels will be getting the bike one.
haven't touched Necrons yet, but may add a small force of them, we'll see.

Book is great, a little hefty, but at least the rules are duplicated in the tourny book for ease of transportation.

Definite win with this box set, looking forward to trying out a few small games.

As I started building, I realized I’ve not built one stock yet.

Captain got a helmet crest.
Lt. got a head swap to a bare one, halo removed.
Chaplain got a Ultramarine shoulder pad
Judicar is getting a head swap. Haven’t decided which one to go with, so painting two and will see which looks better.
Ancient got the hand replaced with a censor.
