ATS on the Riptide with the relic ion is IMHO a waste of points.
Your giving up 3 CP to avoid taking 135 points of troops?

Also Shadowsuns Mont'ka wont effect anyone else as it's sept locked to Tau sept untill GW fix that.

Your especially going to struggle IMHO with taking objectives from your opponent, Tau generally have a big issue with this but your list feels like it designed to stay back and try and hit hard enough, but I don't think that will ever work in 9th missions.

Some problems, firstly you can't have tau sept if you have custom traits, it's one or the other. As pointed out you can't have two commanders in a detachment unless you are farsight enclave.

In terms of the list, drop the tetras and sunsharks, they are bad. I'd consider dropping the rvanna too, way too expensive. In 9th the main goal is objectives, sitting back and shooting won't work very well anymore.

Get some troops and consider the possibility not getting more mobility.

Okay, I've worked hard on things, and tho I do like the relic Ion gun on the Riptide, and will *want* to field the sunshark due to just keeping it a lil fun (replaced with drones in Competitive lol)...


Here is what I'm looking at now, going Farsight and well... what do you think??

Again I would say why ATS on the Y'vharra it's already-2 &-3 AP.

Personally don't rate Shadowsun's rules outside of Tau sept.

Don't like 10 man drone squads, the are only Ld6

Still no obsec, all it takes is 1 custode/intercessor etc take all the objectives from you and you'll be down 30VP vrs your opponents and that's not really recoverable in 9th.

I am grateful for the advice.

I'm working on including Firewarriors in the list, will practice with them to see their strengths (on paper I don't like'm, but yes, they are a pivotal role as TROOPS on the battlefield).

I can see your logic in the ten man drone squadrons w/ their Ld6, to get a good amount of drones on the table is important too... so run with those 2 man packs, 4 or 5 tops?

I was considering doing the thing where I smash people off a key objective... but in truth why not do both and eat that cake too eh?

I get around the 3 FA slots issue when I run my Y'vharra by taking a crisis suit team as each suit is allowed upto 2 drones. Allows you to sneak in that 3rd 5/6 drone unit. When you don't have the slot

Aerial Targeting (-1CP) would give that reroll 1's to the burst drones and broadsides and riptide if anything was out of the CC range I'm expecting half the time now in this edition

Farsight can make one unit work with CP and strategums,

The Greater Good PA Book took Farsight from yeah not a good enough subfaction trait to better trait plus new relics, strategums.

To be fair I haven't got the chance to get many 9th games in yet a few but TAU arn't my only army.
