For those who remember, a number of months back GW put up a pair of what would have been celebratory miniatures (a new plastic Termy Libby and Sister Tariana Palos of the Adepta Sororitas) up for pre-order, with the proviso being that it would be quite a while before they shipped (September was what I was led to believe).

Well I just got notification that the one I ordered (the SoB) has shipped! So that's nice.

Anyone else get notification of theirs?

I got my email a day or too ago as well.
Was quite nice timing, too, as I'd just being eying up and feeling jealous of someone on Reddit who'd already got and painted theirs.

Not as yet, but I’ve £450 tied up in them, as I ordered 10 of each for the Loot Group.

Man, I wouldn’t say no to recovering that back to liquidity!

Had my Terminator Librarian delivered months ago, but still waiting for the primaris Lieutenant, was really surprised when the termy turned up so quickly after ordering given the 180 day delivery time they listed.

Well, weren’t they supposed to be a convention limited edition, so they must have manufactured a quantity to take to the events before it had to go MTO; guess you got lucky and ordered early enough for them to still have stock?

From what I can tell the production and shipping on these is really random. I think they are slipping in casting waves here and there rather than one big production wave. Which would explain why some people get some of them and others nothing.

Weren’t they available online for anybody to purchase?

I’m curious as to why you bought ten of each

Time limits.
There's many a time that GW puts something up for sale in the short term and people either don't notice it going up (not everyone hounds online every day or even every week) or they don't have the money free at the time to make the order. Plus there's always new people who join after such a release. So there's often a body of interested people who just weren't able at the time.

Got a shipping notice for the Sister and the Librarian at the end of last month. Still haven't heard about Amulius, but we're also months away from when I was expecting either orders, so nothing out of the ordinary yet

Precisely this. I had oodles of cash to play with, and given we were in the most uncertain period of Corona, figured I could pick up a selection for later. That way, people who couldn’t commit cash at the time didn’t miss out. All part of the Looting Ethos

I did the same with Amulius, and just need to arrange the ones being shipped to the US.

Doc has that pretty well covered.
To add to it slightly, most people in the UK that are monthly pay tend to get paid on the last day or last Friday of each month.

GW has a bad habit of putting time limited stuff up mid month for the most part, meaning you either skip payments to buy models or pay bills and miss the models.

The MtO slaanesh diaznettes were a fine example of this.

Umn. Seriously?

If your plastic toy soldier spending risks interfering with you paying bills and rent, you should maybe get out of the hobby more generally for a few years until you have a more stable income, some life savings, a few assets for old age, etc.., etc..

It's not that they can't afford the hobby its that they've burned their "free" money at the start/earlier part of the month. Thus what they have left is money for essentials. Plus they might well be holding onto more than they need in case of the unexpected.

It's more a balancing/cash flow issue than a case of affording or not.

Nah man, you don't get it, only rich people are allowed hobbies. If you have to budget, you should just be happy deriving a moment's pleasure from a cheap supermarket own-brand sausage roll before you anesthetize yourself with an evening of reality TV, only people who don't even have to think about how much they spend or when are worthy of more.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

I don't really see what that's got to do with it, not in a world where credit cards exist.

Still haven't heard anything about mine. On GW's site it still lists my order (I ordered both the Sister and Librarian) as pending. Honestly I'm expecting it to be October before I get them, but that's okay as I've got plenty of plastic needing paint in the meantime thanks to Indomitus.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Mine are still waiting to be sent. I'm fine with this, I was warned they would take time to arrive .

Whoops, missed this post.

I got my notification. Kind of excited about it.

Also - this is a dumb thing to be annoyed about but - they lowered the free shipping to $32 on GWS now in the US? It was, I think, $65 at the time this was available to order. I was pretty salty when the sister was announced that it was a $35 model that had $10 shipping - functionally a 30% shipping fee on a single blister, which is outlandish. I wound up getting 2 and assumed\hoped I could sell one when they came so I didn't have to pay all that extra shipping.

I mean, i am glad they are now offering a better deal on shipping, but where was that then?

Anyway, I am having mingled feelings of excitement over it arriving, and dread - that I won't be able to paint such a cool model to the standard it deserves. I can probably pull off the body fine but I really am not good at painting faces, and no way and I swapping that awesome head out for a helmet. So, it's "git gud", I guess.

They lowered the shipping the Monday or Tuesday after they started taking orders for these models. It was in direct response to people mentioning that in some regions(like here in the US) we couldn't place orders for more than just those models.

I thought they were going to apply it to people's accounts retroactively, but it might be that it had to reach that amount before sales tax?

I got my notice on monday. They (Sister, Termi and Lt) are supposed to show up tomorrow. What cheeses me off is that they shipped monday (according to the tracking) but I also placed a GW order last friday night/saturday, that also shipped on monday but wont get to me until next wednesday for some reason.
