Well, it's finally happened, after years only partaking of the painting and modelling side of the hobby, I'm going to dip my toe into the gaming side, if only perhaps in theory.

I started building this group of world eaters last year, and was just trying to make some cool world eaters. However, this year I decided to make them into a genuine kill team that work within the rules, building a legitimate roster and partaking in some math hammer.

This has resulted in lots of chopping and reassembling of parts. I've brought the rulebook and set up a battlescribe roster to make sure my team members are legal (there will be some counts as models/weapons)

So without further ado here are some of my World Eaters.
I need to think of a cool name for their little warband at some point.

First up are some regular berserkers. The heavy chainsword/axe will count as regular chainsword/axe. Terminator gunner with reaper autocannon and chainfist for some heavy support, and a banner bearer(will be a regular berserker with icon of wrath.)

Nice mix of bits. The Terminator w/Reaper is a fabulous model. Will they be more white/blue or red/black?

Thanks! I think I'll be going for the original white and blue scheme, albeit it probably a little bit dirtied up. Its frustrating because I have a big mix of armour marks, some with, some without chaos icons etc, but I prefer the original heresy scheme. I also have a nice mix of transfers for them. its just a shame their pre and post heresy schemes are so completely different, theres no real way you can represent a mix of the 2 without it being jarring and I want to have some uniformity in the group. I want to create a vibe where they are clearly world eaters, but not just the blood crazed maniacs they are often shown as. So, theyre late heresy/skalathrax era,starting to patron khorne, but still capable of being tactical. We'll see how it goes.

I love when the modellers/painters get into the gaming side. They always bring such unique and unexpected models. It really spices up the game.

thanks man! I'm not sure if I'll ever get any games with them. I do have one pal who plays, but I havent seen him for a while. I'm doing it as a pen and paper exercise, but at least they will be ready if I do ever get round to playing some small KT games.

A bit more heavy support in the form of a gunner. played around with some magnets for the first time. This allowed me to make use of some spare parts I had left from my havoc kit, aswell as a bolter option.

These will all be painted fully at some point too. I just really enjoy painting faces.

The faces look fantastic. Looking forward to seeing paint on the rest of these models. Great start.

Yeah, those are some really good faces! Nice and angry looking as they should be.

Started some quick (er) paint jobs on some of these guys. I trialled a technique of using white oil paints over a quick acrylic white pre shade, to try and make the white armour process quicker, but with drying time plus touch ups over varnish I'm not sure whether or not I saved any time. Regardless, I'm happy with how he looks. Still WIP obviously, but hopefully I will get him done in a few more days.

Looks very good. That color scheme is going to make those Heavies blow doors off. Figuratively speaking.

I hope so! I'm not planning on spending as much time on them as I normally do on individual miniatures, as these are unlikely to be entered into any competitions, but I'll probably still spend ages on them anyway due to my painting ocd

Ooooh love that mini bud... always toyed with the idea of blue and white world eaters. Would love to do a small force for 40k in their original scheme.
As a space wolves fan the world eaters would be the traitor force I’d go for if I was to do a chaos force. Not a fan of pure red looking evil guys.

Nah I definitely prefer their original colour scheme. I've seen some late heresy schemes that replace the blue with the dark red which look quite good, but my world eaters rhino is blue and white, as is my heresy kharn so I want them to fit with those.

What sort of primer do you use? Just wondering, it looks pretty good.

I just use cheap grey rattlecan hardware primer. I think this one is called super primer. I brought 2 cans at the start of the corona panic.

An unsurprisingly great start to the Kill Team! I’m not sure how obvious it is that he’s WIP, he’s way beyond what some of us mortals achieve!

I always enjoy a good Heresy era World Eaters scheme. if you did want to add more red in to the mix, then My head cannon has them slowly turn from blue and white to full on red due to aeons of blood stains. Perhaps as they earn KT experience they might evolve their colour scheme as they slay foes?

That's not a bad idea. I'd maybe add some blood splatter should I ever get chance to play.
I also bit off a little more and started a corresponding Emperors Children kill team for a Skalathrax vibe... Not sure what I'd run them as in game without just duplicating a similar list with different coloured dudes. Anyway here is a 3rd legion aspiring champion with power maul. WIP, waiting on some vintage shoulder pads.

Another child of the emperor. Agonised for ages about an appropriate right arm for this guy from my bits box, but nothing gave me that nice feeling. So now I'm waiting on some Palatine spears from forge world in the mail

Great looking models, lots of character in them all. Nice use of old Abaddon's legs as well.

Ok that's a very promising start. Following this thread ! It's gonna be huge

Finishing off?! By my standards, he's painting competition ready! And I can see why it takes so long, as you appear to value quality over quantity.

The guy what stole Abaddon's pants is a fantastic mini already. Can't wait to see him with both arms and some lovely EC colors.

Aye, the legs of the old Abaddon work very well when you put a more accurately proportioned torso on top of them. It just goes to show the scale creep thats happened over 20 years. It seemed a shame to waste them and I like the retro vibe they bring.

Fantastic stuff, the Abaddon legs do work perfectly and the faces are amazing. It's funny, most people are the opposite and dread tackling the faces, I've never seen them all done first!

Ah I love faces. Especially on space marines. They add so much character to the models. I couldn't do them if they were all helmeted. In fact the number of helmeted SM I own is probably sub 10.
