I don't take sniper troops as their weapons are typically a Heavy 1 rifle. That too low a die roll in a skirmish game really gimps them IMO.

However, synaptic disintegrators are Rapid Fire 1 weapons. So... do you take two more Deathmarks? I'm wondering if a kill team with 2 or more of these would be good against factions like the Death Guard and other high Toughness and high Save factions.

Nope.

The longer answer is that I took then when I first started, but they always proved worse than just taking more Immortals.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Yeah you're right.

One of my friends run Custodes and I was thinking of running an all-Deathmark team for the mortal wounds but even with the best-case scenario, it's not worth it.

I ran the math.

4 turns X [2 shots from six units = 12 shots] = 48 shots

Assuming enemy is always obscured that's 4 to hit for the Deathmarks = 50%

That's 24 shots landed for the entire game.

Getting 6s on a six-sided die: 1/6 chance = 16.67%

24 X 16.67% = 4 mortal wounds

And this is assuming no Deathmarks dies, get shaken, etc.

Here's a different way of looking at the math.

You need 32 shots to have a 50% chance of getting at least 3 mortal wounds.

But what about the regular damage from 32 shots?

It's pretty terrible.

Yeah it's pretty bad. :(

Sniper rifles in general need to be fixed.

The mortal wound on a 6+ isn't good enough to carry a weapon with otherwise terrible stats. They need to have a good killy statline or maybe just auto deliver a mortal wound if they hit.

Well, Synaptic Disintegrators are going to be massively improved in 40k next month.

Who knows when the flows down to Kill Team though. Probably never since it appears to be abandoned.

Yeah. :(

I don't get that move by GW. Because of Kill Team, I've literally poured HUNDREDS of dollars into this hobby. The amount of flexibility and my being enthusiastic ("obsessed" is too strong a word haha) about WYSIWYG, has ruptured my bank account lol!

Disclaimer: I'm obsessed with MY squads being WYSIWYG. It's not a problem if my enemy doesn't have WYSIWYG models. It's fine. (So long as he's not modelling for confusion. I've heard some players intentionally confuse their opponents with confusing kitbashes.)

They've said that KT isn't going to be getting a new edition to go with 9th because it's a separate ruleset.

Hopefully that means it's going to be independent of 40K going forwards and not that they're going to align it with 9th when they get around to it.

Same sentiment. I agree; that would be the best-case scenario for us Kill Team players.
