So, just for a bit of fun, what's everyone's favourite model from 40k? It can be the look of them or just because of their style, whatever floats your boat :p

For me, it'll probably be Yvraine, I just love her style and the model is really really nice. Especially love the train on the dress. My 2nd fav model would probably be the Drukhari Succubus, the pose is so good, really shows the athleticism ♥

In terms of what model I'd love to see, is an actual female Farseer! One of my all time fav characters from DoW2 is Idranel and I'd love to see a model of her, but I think I'll be waiting forever for that xD

Anyways, let me know what is your guys' favourites!

I have a love/hate with Guilliman. The sword and left pauldron (the name ribbon) were so fun to paint and work with. The gold scrollwork, and the left greave ribbon sucked. Too much too small scroll work, and why didn't they "raised detail" the wording on the boot like they did his name on the pauldron? WTF?

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

They actually exist, believe it or not, but were test-sculpts done by new sculptors and thus never released sadly:

Ooh I don't actually mind that Guilliman model, I think it's better than the forge world one but I don't really play space marines so I guess I won't have to choose aha

Awwwwwwwww I really wish they did make one.. haha maybe not like one of those old sculpts xD But still, I need my Idranel hahahaha
I feel like I can't appreciate those old models as I was never into warhammer (or I was too young then) back then.

Oh geez, I have to pick only one favorite??? I don't know where to begin. I don't know if I even can.

So here's a dozen favorites!
(in no particular order)
*GSC Kelermorph
*The classic box dreadnoughts, particularly the metal ones.
*Farseer - there's an ages old RT era one in robes, pointing, wearing that lumpy organic bug-eyed style helmet. (I'll see if I can find a pic)
*RT/2e era Leman Russ with his two wolves - not the most fantastic model ever, just a favorite. And the only 40k scale Primarch model made until Gman arrived.
*Death Korps of Krieg - all of them.
*Ripper Swarms - both normal & winged from FW.
*The new Zoat from BSF
*Goff Rokkas
*The Thunderbolt fighter from FW.
*Classic metal Fire Dragons & thier Phoenix Lord.
*Vypers
*Land Raiders - particularly the MKI/RT era one.

What would I like to see....
*A full range of squats done in modern plastic.
*Leman Russ & his wolves. Or at least 40k rules for him.
*a beetle carapice version of Reiver & Warlord titans drawn from the original Adeptus Titanicus art.

BIG agreement on this. I love my Fellblade, it's hands down my favorite model. I just wish gw loved it as well.

For my second pick I'd have to say the Night Lords legion Contemptor. No dreadnought is more tailor made for its legion. The thing SCREAMS Eighth Legion.

For what I'd like to see? An actual Chosen kit, in Heresy pattern armour, with conversion kits for all the legions. For what the Night Lords conversion should look like, check out my avatar.

Honourable mention to the Hellblade. I think the only reason gw doesn't do these in plastic is because they'd never sell a Hellturkey again. And Dreadclaws, a perfect example of how to "chaosify" a vehicle without slapping spikes all over it.

My favorite 40k model is probably Cawl. A current close 2nd goes to the Onager Dunecrawler.

There just something so utterly grimdark about the AdMech line that I love. Here's hoping they let us take some FW relic units someday. What I wouldn't give to run some of those tanks/automata in 40k.

Staying out of Lords of War, probably the Basilisk. Self propelled guns, standing by!
After that, the Exorcist, and after that, the Vindicator.

I would like to see the return of the Medusa Siege Gun non-armageddon pattern

There are so many Lord of War options.
The Shadowsword/Baneblade are awesome and are in fact the model that I first saw and was like "I want that."
The Marcharius is awesome looking, particularly the Vanquisher one.
I also like the Ordinatus Ulator.

As for what I'd like to see in the Lord of War realm, I don't know. More tanks, less robots.

I would also like to see FW stop making models that are the same datasheet as 17 other models they make except with legion specific flair and go back to making cool new stuff and options in general. So much cool stuff has disappeared [kill tanks, elysians, renegades, hammerhead gun turrets, repressors, and so on], and in it's place we have more products under "Contemptor Dreadnought" than any Xenos faction has things period.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

The dark behind the eyes.

DE Mandrakes remain one of my favourite units, in spite of their sculpts being quite old by this point.

I'd very much like to see a Mandrake HQ of some sort, especially since nothing else in the codex has any interaction with Mandrakes at the moment.

Obligatory pictures of my own Mandrake HQ conversions, for the benefit of the 3 people on dakkadakka who haven't yet seen them:

Spoiler:

Scourges are another favourite of mine. IMO they remain the best winged model kits GW have ever done. In addition to being very nice models in and of themselves, they also make for fantastic conversion-pieces.

While pretty old now, I have a fondness for the Necron Lord models. I like the minimalist aesthetic, with the lords having little to differentiate them from the rank&file beyond a mark on their foreheads and their ancient, tattered robes. To me, that was far more effective than the Overlords with their bead-curtain capes, ridiculous headgear, and overly-elaborate trappings.

I think the Big Mek is one of my main reasons to start Orks. And even a friend of mine who hates Orks had to admit that this guy is absolutely badass.

I remember, many years ago, seeing some great Ork conversions on the GW website - including some fantastic Bik Mek models.

I'd never had much interest in Orks up until then, but seeing those armies really made me want to actually start an army.

Unfortunately, those articles were among the many casualties of GW's transition from website to webstore.

Some of my favourites manage to hit both sides of the classic/modern line. That is - they're old units that have had a modern refresh, that still manage to hark back to the nostalgia.

The new Keeper of Secrets was mentioned, with a more obvious bull-head than the last rendition - never did like that thing.
The 'special-edition' Noise Marine was very clearly a love letter to Citadel history, right down to the studio giving it the classic "PATTERNS EVERYWHERE" paintjob again.
But my favourite of this "in with the old, in with the new" approach? Mephiston. Yeah, he's Primaris - but the way he looks so much like his classic artwork, and keeps his unique armour, you'd never know it.

...yes, of course I gave mine the licked-hand pose. Anyone opting for the plasma pistol is either too young to know better, or is just plain wrong.

As for what I'd like to see? Top of the tree would be a new Dante and/or Emperor's Champion - but I recognise that's a little selfish considering it'd be yet another Marine release, I can wait a while longer.
Next stop - updated Warp Spiders. The concept is just *so* cool, and to this day they're still pretty much a unique unit with a unique style of war and appearance. I can't believe out of all the Aspects they haven't had a single update since 2nd ed!!

So many favourites...

Forgeworld Avatar of Khaine
Spoiler:
Mine:

Scorpion Type II Super Heavy Grav Tank
Spoiler:
Mine:

Pretty much all of the Eldar Warlocks (total design classics that defy their age, and I hope they don't change the design if and when we get a plastic kit)
Spoiler:
(some of) mine:

Chaplain in Terminator Armour (the one that's currently available in finecast)
The Triumph of St. Katherine
Exorcist
Stormblade (That art of one on the very first Imperial Armour really stuck with me, and I always thought it was a shame that the plastic Baneblade kit can't build one)
Macharius Vulcan
Malcador Infernus
Minotaur Artillery Tank (so many of these Forgeworld Guard vehicles are just gloriously mad, and they're one of my main motivators to starting a guard army at some point)
Cerastus Knight Castigator (that bolt cannon with the huge ammo belt...)
And I can't not say the Warlord Titan.

(Wow there's a lot of Forgeworld in that list)

As for what I'd like to see, you can probably gather from the start of that list that I'm a Craftworlds collector, so I'd like to see the Craftworlds line get some attention - first priority to bring out updated plastic kits for our finecast, I don't think the line really needs brand new units but I'm sure they'd end up adding some if Eldar get a big overhaul. I'm not opposed to that, so long as they fit nicely into the aesthetic and don't contradict too much of the existing lore. I'd also like to see more attention paid to Forgeworld's 40k lines. It seems to me that they've been left to dwindle somewhat recently, like GW doesn't really want Forgeworld bringing out new 40k models but doesn't quite want to pull the plug on the ones that they currently sell either. Well, not all at once, we've already lost a multitude of things that have just vanished, probably when the moulds wore out and they decided against replacing them.

Really great idea for a thread.

Well, where to begin...

My favourite model now probably has to be the contemptor galatus dreadnought from forgeworld.

Other sculpts I really love:
-the old emperors champion. Still one of the best sculpts GW has done in my opinion, even though it's really old now
-the new keeper of secrets
-new ghazghkull is absolutely stunning
-venatari custodes with saggitarum heads
-the swarmlord, still an awsome sculpt

What I'd like to see....well, definitely new plastic aspect warriors and phoenix lords, also plastic mandrakes. A plastic hetaeron guard would be nice, but will probably never happen.

I'll confess, I do really like the Wraithlord model, but I wouldn't put it in my top 10 or anything. But... the simple fact that it has a big blank canvas as its face means it's the basis for some of the most amazingly creative paintjobs I've ever seen.

It's a really tough call for me, but I'd say it's a tie between the Emperor's Champion, which is a sculpt that still really holds up to this day, and the Kommando Nob in the current resin kit.
