How many words should each post have? I do not want to put too much in one post.

I prefer 1500 - 2000 words per post.

If the medium I'm publishing in is online then I expect my readers to be casual browsing web-surfers. So I don't like to impose on them too much by expecting them to devote their entire coffee break to reading my latest chapter.

I also try to make as much space in the text as possible. A thick wall of text is really off-putting especially if browsing on a phone. So I will paragraph break often and use dialogue to create gaps in the text to make it easier to follow on a screen.

These aren't hard and fast rules for online fiction. Just things I've found in my own practice.
