Wow! A man with a SM legion literally in his name is doing something that isn't Imperium! How could this be?

This all started when I realized I might be able to convince my girlfriend to play quick games with me on the dining room table. However, in my head, I would refuse to let my Space Wolves play my DKoK, or my alternative Dark Angels. Naturally, in my twisted mind, I would need an army that would make sense to fight them. I found myself on the GW webstore, and in moments had purchased enough T'au to make a small 500pt list. I had always admired T'au.. I like the range, I like the lore, and I like the conversion options of adding in "allies."

However, I then also stopped by a FLGS's website, and within a further few moments, I had ordered enough to double my list. This blog will serve as insight into my segue from "For the Emperor!" to "For the Greater Good!"

So... I'm going with an ashen world vibe. It'll be the T'au Sept, for maximum game-ability. I went with orange (even though that makes no camo sense) because I love the look of charcoal and orange.

The final list will be:
Ethereal
Cadre Fire Blade (converted from the second ethereal I have in my second getting started box.)
Commander Shadowsun

XV8 Crisis Suits x6
XV25 Stealth Suits x3
XV88 Broadside x1

T'au Pathfinders x1
T'au Breachers x1
T'au Gau'vesa (IG conversions) x2 (1 will count as pathfinders, 1 will count as breachers. I have some great heads on order to customize them from anvil industries.)

Fun update!

Finished up the 10 man Breacher Squad, the 3 XV8 Crisis Suits, and 2 drones.

Started the process on the Ethereal, wanting to have his whole aesthetic be a bit more colorful.. maybe a digi-camo scheme on the cape. Will see where my creativity takes me.

I've also taken the 10 man "easy build" Cadians and started the conversion of them towards being Gue'vesa. Awaiting anvil industry heads for them, and a samurai soldier sprue to spruce them up a bit.

I also converted the second Getting Started box's Ethereal into a Cadre Fireblade.

I've included a group shot of those which are finished, and those which need priming!

Wow, these Tau look very nice so far! I can see why you like black and orange

I'm also really excited to see where you will take the Gue'vesa, they always seemed like an interesting conversion opportunity to me! So far they look really cool, I'm excited to see them with the heads you've chosen!

G'day!

Interesting take on a Tau scheme here - don't think I've seen anything like it before. Anything ash world gets me excited - I must have spent a thousand hours playing Morrowind...

Do you have any pics of the alternate heads? You don't see too many converted Tau troops, seems like a really cool concept to me. Fireblade conversion looking good too. Excited to see more!

Thanks to you both! Ask and you shall recieve!

Anvil Industry heads arrived today. The first time I ordered from them. This won't be the last. Very happy with the product. I also ordered some should pauldron type things, to create a uniform look that isn't specifically Imperial or T'au.

The longer hair guys really scream "we've found the greater good, man!" to me, which I like. The gas masks look a bit modern, but I like how they kinda tie everything into the ashen waste-lands theme.

Tau sympathisers!! Odious xenos traitor scum! Sorry You gotta love the cool results you can get crossing over those kits though, and the Anvil heads already look very nice.

That's a nice colour combo for the Tau too, keep up the good work!

Oh yeah! Gotta love those Anvil heads, they look so cool! You are right, they really give the impression of a rebel group with their mixed haircuts, beanies, masks etc! Great choice, I'm sure they will look great when painted! Also, kudos for using proper human legs!
