One cheap and easy way to make even foamcore or cardboard terrain look better is with free artwork

This search shows a lot of 40k miniposters that are like a couple dozzen on one sheet of paper you can print, cut and paste to your buildings.

very good idea, I did a couple test prints and it came out weird, did a printer cleaning and maintenance and same thing happened. Maybe its my printer, or maybe the image need to be in more pixels.

Have you tried setting your printer to low resolution? Ironically it might make these clearer.
