Greetings,

I figured it made sense to start a general thread about various Osprey Wargaming Series and other Rulebooks coming out.

Here is some basic ones that I am aware of as of this writing, but there maybe others:

1. Gamma Wolves- A game of mecha combat by Ash from Guerilla Miniature Games. I am pretty sure he had Betas up on his Patreon and even did a video of it for his site during play testing. It is up for pre-order on the site and publishes Nov 26th.

https://ospreypublishing.com/store/osprey-games/other-wargames/gamma-wolves

He also wrote Last Days and Last Days Seasons, as well as Last Days: Timelines and some Frostgrave scenarios.

2. A Billion Suns has been pushed back to publish in January last I heard. It is a space combat game by Mike Hutchinson; the guy who made Gaslands. Looks like you can play across a few different boards at once, and their are no defined fleet lists. Seems like it has a lot of innovations for the genre. It looks like it will be OWG26....

I think you can find some Beta- and playtesting here:
http://abillionsuns.space/

4. Absolute Emperor is by Boyd Bruce. It is a game of Napoleonic Wargaming. I think that sums it up BUT it is going to be part of the Osprey Wargaming Series and probably OWG27? This is slated to come out in May of 2021 and has some potential cover art on the book.

https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/absolute-emperor-9781472843661/

3. Wars of the Republic is an Ancients game based on the earlier Men of Bronze rules from OWG24. The focus is on the rise of Rome to the end of the Republic. That would include a pretty large time scale including the Punic Wars. This is slated for a late 2021 release according to the Bloomsbury Publishing website.

https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/wars-of-the-republic-9781472844903/

4. Castles in the Sky. Again the Bloomsbury Publishing site seems to state a 2022 release as part of the Osprey Wargaming Series. The subtitle is a game of flying battleships.

I know there have also been several announcements for new upcoming RPG books from Osprey and their RPG arm, but I am not as familiar with the details there. I guess that will leave it open for other posters to add on then!

Will Stargrave make as much as an impact as Frostgrave?

In my (limited) market research, Sci-Fi is a bigger seller than Fantasy..... so I will tentatively say....

Yes?

Great add by the way.

Hopefully it does better than Rogue Stars...

Hell yes to Gamma Wolves. Osprey and Ash from GMG and mechs sounds like a recipe for success.

Stargrave! OF COURSE!

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

If Frostgrave focuses around Wizards, and Ghost Archipelago focuses around Heritors, I wonder what Stargrave focuses around?

Anyone heard?

From the Amazon blurb, it looks like customizable Captains:

In Stargrave, players take on the role of one of these independent operators. Perhaps they are a cybernetic veteran of the Last War, a psion fleeing slavers, or a mystic warrior attempting to preserve ancient wisdom. Maybe they are a bounty hunter collecting blood money, a robotics expert pushing the bounds of current technology, or a biomorph bred in the genetanks of some forgotten laboratory. Having chosen their own background, players must hire a crew for their ship, choosing a lieutenant with their own unique skill-set, and a handful of soldiers, mechanics, hackers, and other specialists. Some captains may even recruit strange alien lifeforms with abilities no humanoid could ever possess.

So a Captain and a Lieutenant.

Oh, for Gamma Wolves, theres some GMG videos to consider...

...different to what I expected, but its even better. Definitely a game for building scratch-built models from plasticard components and running with it.

As with Stargrave, hoping there's a solo-coop feature, but not every game is designed with that in mind and best left as a multi player experience.

I am guessing it will not have solo/co-op to start, but in a supplemental book it probably will.

Old News I am sure, but Northstar is making a line of figures to go with Stargrave.

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=127623.0

Also, they did do some space conversions for Gnolls and Cultists for Frostgrave a while back, but that does not mean we will get Space Gnolls in Stargrave!

Picture is from Northstar apparently..... but not for Stargrave.......

Yeah, I think that picture was from an older, "Will the sci-fi cultist arms fit gnolls?" question post or thread somewhere.

The Osprey Games Blog has some good detail about the design of some of their games....

Here is one about the RPG: Those Dark Places which is a Sci-fi Horror game.....

https://ospreypublishing.com/blog/those_dark_places_story_driven/

There is also a lot of detail about a Wuxia based RPG called Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades:

https://ospreypublishing.com/blog/designer_blog_fire_deviations/

More RPG based but still of interest when you are a game designer.

A Billion Stars is on the site now.....

https://ospreypublishing.com/store/osprey-games/osprey-wargames/a-billion-suns

Looks like it was pushed back to mid-Feb 2021.

Perhaps that means 3 Blue Books for next year as opposed to just 2?

WWIII skirmish game sounds neat.

Definitely interested in Gamma Wolves since I'd be able to use my 15mm mecha.

As someone who was able to get an advanced Beta copy of the Billion Suns rules, it's quite an interesting game. Much different from standard "Age of Sail- but in Space!" game mechanics with two lines of ships slugging it out. Especially because most games are played on two or more boards that ships can warp between to fight or complete contracts (do this with a ship, capture that, destroy a space station, etc)

I have my copy right here, so I wonder if it is actually just a distribution issue. I got mine from North Star in the UK.

Interesting.

It was initially slotted for Nov 26th (I think), now on their site it is showing December 15th?

Yet, you have a copy all ready through a 3rd party. It sounds like Distribution is the issue.

Judge Dredd Cursed Earth for $7. Shipping is $3.50 to USA, free with purchase of two other books. Osprey currently has a sale on their older books, although the price is the same as Amazon. Picked up Dragon Rampart because I heard good things about it, and the card-based Kobolds and Cobblestones looked interesting. Gaslands is also worth looking into.

Gaslands Refuelled adds all the online content to the core game too. More weapons, teams, and campaign stuff.

If you pick up Gaslands, I recommend going online and finding the custom dice and templates too.

Then, see how addicting it is to paint Hot Wheels cars!
