A large volume of the human brain is dedicated to reading and interpreting human faces. Our eyes are naturally drawn to faces, making them some of the most important parts of most minis. That's the face usually acts as the focal point of the mini, and it works best to have the face stand out slightly.

So I strongly recommend giving your model a skin tone that doesn't blend in to the resr of the model so much. It doesn't have to be a realistic human skin tone or anything, it just shouldn't be the same colour as the clothes/armour.

Thx mate, that's some really helpful insight. Next time at the painting desk I'll give it a go. Mabye getting the skin a white tone.

Model looks great, agree the skin tone should be a lot lighter though.

As both an Elf (Eldar) and a focal point on the model, a lighter skin tone makes more sense.

Thinking of painting some warpaint on their faces, to get some contrast like suggested.

Began painting some friends to ride along with the big boy.

Very cool, and I really like those helmets - that black bordered by white is very striking!
