So I entered the code from my new SM codex and got all of the digital content. I also noticed that the core rules are now fully integrated (not phoned-in as a PDF in Google Drive anymore).

This is all good, but...

1) The 'Core Book: Expanded Rules' section is locked. I have the core book, but it doesn't come with a code like the codex. How do I access these?
2) I also noticed that on the datasheets, only optional weapon profiles are shown. What about the weapons that come as standard with each unit?

Is nobody else using the app?

Only mildly, I also put in my Codex SM Code, but had cancelled my subscription after the second month (only had to pay for the first).
Expanded rules come with the subscription.
I believe (hope) that the missing weapon profiles on a unit are just a blunder, but am too lazy to mail them over it.

I would imagine few people are. $5 a month isn't very expensive. Free is even less so. But the app still has a time cost, and most of us have decided the app isn't even worth free at this point. If they make it worth more than the time it takes to set it up and use it, this might change.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Expanded Core Rules are subscription only, even if you have the book. Also you can’t get Chapter Approved in it, since no code.

The missing weapons are a bug with the new Marine book and are due to be fixed.

Okay, so it's not just me then.

So even if you've bought all the books and typed in all the codes you still don't get all the rules to allow you just use the app? I see they also make the navigation and search so limited in the free version it's quicker to use the physical book. £3.99 per month is a joke on top of forking out for the physical books.

As for the bugs and the previously phoned-in core rules PDF, the launch of this app has been a total disaster.

No, but I was being generous and waiting to see what it was like when I got my first new codex before passing judgement...

We know what GW thinks is sufficient for a helper app; the Sigmar app is an inefficient archive of datasheets where you can pay extra for formations and can't access any of the points/faction rules you need to actually play the game no matter how much you pay them.

The Sigmar app gives you every unit’s datasheets for free. $1 a month gives you the army builder which has all the points costs. You can buy digital versions of all the rulebooks/codexes thru the app at a substantial discount to get rules for the formations and factions. The Sigmar app is Way better than the 40k app.

Oh. Army builder feature has been added since the last time I looked. I'm not prepared to pay them any money to see if it works but I'm happy to take your word for it that it does.

So if they could be bothered to make a working app for Sigmar why couldn't they be bothered to make one for 40k?

When did you last look? The army builder feature has been there for Years. I can’t even recall the AoS app Not having the army builder feature. You’ll see me complain about the 40k one quite a bit, but the AoS one has been really good for a long time. It had given me false hope for the 40k app. Now I’m worried they’ll screw it up to equalize the two.

AoS App has the army builder since ever

as well as the free army builder on the warhammer community site

AoS is much more supported in that way than 40k
and I guess because the game already faced a lot of hate on how GW messed the release and 1st Edition up, they tried really hard to get it right in that case

40k will make money no matter what, so no need to even try to get it right

You're might be right, but personally I won't be paying for it - I've already renewed my subscription to BattleScribe (at £3.99 per year).

I only really use that for list building anyway though - I much prefer using physical books during games.

Yeah the app is kind of pointless, especially the paid version. Maybe, MAYBE if the army builder was online, it would be worth it but as is it's not. They really should've just made the whole thing free, charging this much for such a pitiful app is kind of insulting, especially when you can see all the potential it has that they're just not bothering to fulfill for whatever reason.

My understanding is the internet just gives you all the datasheets for free normally. So the AoS app reprinting them isn't really doing much. But sure. It has them.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I don't know if you've been able to tell from my commentary on this subject but I don't play Sigmar that much and when I do I tend to use Battlescribe...

Same here. Had to delete and re-install. On the bright side, datasheets seem to be fixed

Ah, yep, delete and reinstall indeed fixed it. And yay the missing weapons are fixed. That’s what I was hoping for.

Still no points costs listed for Chapter Command unfortunately.

The update worked for me. But the policy of making you pay for the expanded core rules (again) isn't going to change unfortunately.

Is there any way to access the rules pertaining to detachments in the App? I found "Detachment Rules" by searching, but it appears to be locked, even though I'm a subscriber...

Also the Ork codex is chock-full of errors like listing Achillus dreadspear as a weapon for Deffdreads, Twin big shootas for Gunwagons, a 0 pt Kustom force field for the Big Mek in Mega Armour and yammering on about Boss Zagstruk in the Cyborg Body rules entry for Nobs... I just don't understand how they've managed to cock up so many things in the app and still haven't fixed them after months. Hell I even emailed them in September about a couple of those and they still haven't fixed them. For example the Big Mek in Mega Armour used to have no wargear entry or a points cost for the KFF. They managed to add the wargear entry, but then made it 0 points instead of the 20 points that it's in the Munitorum Field Manual.
