Upzone is Pop-Up terrain for Wargaming and RPGs, a full board and set of terrain in a single box. After a lot of development we are finally gearing up to go live with our Kickstarter on November 10th.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/everythingepicgames/upzone-the-pop-up-wargaming-and-rpg-terrain-system

Upzone has been developed with ease and simplicity in mind. Not everyone has the money or space to keep a huge amount of moulded and painted terrain, or spend ages setting up a board before your friends arrive. Our vision for this terrain system is an affordable and accessible alternative to others, that you can store easily or take with you. The board has been developed from scratch to have whole structures pop-up in the blink of an eye, and still be able to hold the weigh of your models.

We have a new project set up since we teamed up with publisher Everything Epic Games, so please re-follow us on the link even if you have seen us already so you don't miss out!

We now have three full box sets ready for launch, plus free exclusive tiles that can make a fourth set. We are looking at around the £75 / $100 mark per box set, which includes all you need for a full 44" x 60" battlefield with terrain, or a massive modular dungeon.

We are posting updates on our facebook before we go live on the 10th so feel free to follow us there

The pyramid looks awesome, but the post-apoc set would be more useful for games I actually (rarely) play. However, for $100 per box I think I’ll wait for some reviews.

I would be curious to see the terrain in "action" holding up, say, a 3rd edition metal Dread.. or a metal Hive Tyrant, as well as the more common plastics

Heck, if you can balance a bowling ball on it, that would be AWESOME..

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

I'd love a closer look at the "dark glowing" pyramid set.

I'm actually starting to burn out on terrain... ...but I do love clever paper things. It kind of looks like you can go inside the pyramid a bit, which would be amazing, and make me much more keen. I respect tables that are 33% impassable block terrain, but still....

If those upper floors of ruins actually are able to hold even metal miniatures, this might be exactly what I'm looking for, as my main issue is finding place a place to store a gaming table somewhere.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Definitely watching this project with interest. I'd love to combine it with the Acid House Terrain set I backed on Kickstarter. Just want to see closer-up photos of the designs and of their assembly to get a sense of how reconfigurable they are. Also, as above, some illustrations of their rigidity.

So, the project is live, and I read something concerning.

Each of the gaming tiles will have 1 inch squares printed on it to assist with RPG and Wargaming.

For 40K and AoS this ain’t great because range and movement are something uncertain, you MIGHT be out of charge range, or bolted range. With the grid, that becomes an asset instead of an uncertain

Isn't premeasuring allowed in AoS and 40k.9? So kinda moot, if so.

That said, I'm curious, but not going to back this. I don't think it will be that durable, despite what claims may be made, and not really a fan of the limited configurability. It might be ok for casual use, but I suspect it won't hold up long for regular wargamers.

Edited to add: Regardless of pre-measuring or not, I agree I don't like grids for aesthetics reasons. If they're cleverly made into part of the pattern it can be ok (e.g., some dungeon tiles), but on open ground, ick.

I've also been following the project, and I have the same concerns as you porkuslime.

Not to mention that the grids are fairly unsightly.

My biggest concern though, is whether or not we can configure the layout in a more 40k friendly layout. The image shown in the Kickstarter has some pretty significantly large firing lanes, that let you fire across the map without hindrance.

Both games allow measurement all the time anyways.
The bigger issue for me is that those squares are ugly and would be a deal breaker for me. I don't want a grid on my table top terrain.

Good point. Song of Blades and Heroes uses measuring sticks, so don't use grids, either. I do see that, since these are manmade structures (eg. not seeing any Pop-up wilderness terrain), these lend themselves aesthetically to gridded environments. Of course, these may not be the *only* products on your wargaming table, so the rest of your table may be non-gridded.

The dungeon is... eh. Battlesystems (?) has some nice looking cardstock dungeons, and Dungeons and Lasers plastics are a good price, if you paint.

Creator has 15+ KS of experience, though. And free dice for the first 48 hours.

I'm hoping for $120, I have a less expensive solution for my non-existent sf wargaming needs. The Cathedral has six of the eight boards and a bonus KS board suitable for *some* non-40K Gothic gaming.

ObPlug: I'm backing the Dire Aliance : Horror Series 1 Gothic Horror miniatures, so the Cathedral should be good for some Song of Blades and Heroes "Fear and Faith" miniatures skirmishing.

There's demand, and when the entire set is unlocked they may offer it.: "Once unlocked we might make it a purchase in pledge manager post campaign

Latest SG's include a free Obsidian board for the $300 pledge. 2x reusable stickers for each pledge.

Mention of flat boards in the PM, price TBD.

While the main terrain looks decent, I am honestly not at all interested in any of the stretch goals.

For a full gaming surface board with ready to play scenery that all store back into a compact box, it's a nice price for what it is!

Not as flexible as your regular option of game mat + scenery, but for some people that's a very nice "ready to play" product here and much cheaper.

With mix-matching the board pieces between the sets you could create some more variety too I guess!

Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)

Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts
