With my Elysian's not even getting legends rules I've been trying to find a way to build them within the current codex, but was frustrated when I realized that demo charges are no longer to be found anywhere in the current codex. I know they were rather nitch pieces of wargear in codex that only speical weapons squads and veterans could take, but still...

Why did Demo charges go away?

I'm mostly venting that many of my main armies builds are being erased it seems, Elysians, I used to run 2-3 squads of Rough Riders, in 5th I ran 2 Griffons and a Colossus, etc...

Because GW hates you and third party bitz makers.

FWIW, Special Weapons Squads have Demo Charges as Legends options.

Wait, demo charges are gone? Well, I'm glad I only have four metal Catachan with them and they can easily be ran as normal lasgun troops. As for Griffons, I would say just run them as Basilisk. If someone complains just stick a 4 inch rod or dowel in the cannon for that game and call it good.

On the upside, the 9th Ed IG book isn't out yet, so perhaps certain options and vehicles will make a return or be replaced by better versions that the old models can count as.

Speaking as someone who's got a lot of FW minis that have been deleted never to return I can guarantee you that any new options GW adds will be either card-game options (stratagems), or new plastic minis that have nothing to do with the old FW minis.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

That's true, FW models that have been officially discontinued have never made a return to my knowledge, but GW models have occasionally seen a return though that's usually only seen with character models in my experience.
