Hello everyone,

I haven't played a game since roughly 2mo into 6th edition.

So I am here asking for advice/assistance. I know I need to pick up the current rulebook but I do currently have the Space Marine codex. I looked through it and I'm not seeing anything that makes bikers count at troup choices that I remember they had when your HQ was on bike as well. Am I just missing something?!

I just have a bunch of free time after work with corona going on. I finally wanted to get back into the game/hobby and build a biker list that I always wanted. Especially with those neat looking ATVs as well. Wanting to get a 1k list written so I assemble and buy properly and not just get stuff and hope for the best.

Well if anyone takes the time to help me it would be greatly appreciated.

There is no more troop swapping bikes, but there are more options than the classic FOC.

Each of the different detachments has different minimum requirements, and max number of slots. For the basic ones you get the one your warlord is in for free, but if you run out of space and want more or want to field the odd ones, you need to spend command points to get more. You want one of the odd ones

(command points are a resource you can use to pull tricks, get re-rolls, put extra stuff in reserve, etc. The number you have is dependent on the size of the game)

An outrider detachment lets you have 1-2 HQs and 3-6 FA picks, with a little space for extras in the other slots. It will cost you 3 of your command points to field it. I’m not sure if the White Scars have something that helps there, but if anyone did, it would be them. But you should be able to fit a 1k list into one without much of an issue.

And you find the rules for these detachments, army building, & missions in the main rulebook.

Awesome thank you all for the answers and input. I just ordered myself the Rulebook and White Scars book. I'm guessing it's from 8th edition? but still works for 9th?

Kind of? Their is a new codex space marines, plus i think a index for the white scars which has mods for the 8th ed supplement to bring it in line with the 9th ed codex. But all the strategies, relics and such should still be valid

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
