So 2020 saw it's share of surprises, 9th edition 40k (OK, not really a surprise), Marines got tougher (OK not really a surprise either), core Necromunda gangs got more stuff (OK not a surprise), Age of Sigmar got stuff. I assume. Don't feel like checking.

Well OK, maybe 2020 didn't have surprises.

I mean other than the collapse of civilization, that one was kind of out of nowhere. And we didn't even get zombies

So with this in mind... what are your completely false and made up 2021 rumors?

1 - Games Workshop will build on the success of their new IG special characters by making Codex Expendables where every model is kind of based on an 80s action hero but in a non-IPR-breaking kind of way. Look for Commissar Detective Bruce McCain, Commando Sgt Arnold Matrix and of course the return of Sly Marbo and Staff Sgt Dillon Weathers.

2 - GW will refund everyone who bought the Imperial Armor book and issue a new, error-free, one straight away.

3 - Siege of Terra will get 8 new volumes including Book 7-Chaos Advances 10 Feet, Book 9-That time Sanguinius stood on the Battlements and it was Really Cool, and Book 11-The 23rd Albrion Grenadiers break for tea and biscuits. Black Library announces plans for 50 additional Siege of Terra books through to 2035.

4 - New Plastic IG kit that can make Cadians, Death Corps and Steel Legion and has 30 models and all weapon options and costs $20 and is totally in scale to Space Marines and it universally beloved.

5 - All Eldar units moved to plastic but each box has half as many models and costs twice as much.

6 - I dunno something big and stupid and expensive and lore-breaking that we all buy anyway. Imperial Primaris Knights with vortex missile batteries or something.

7 - New Primaris drop pods that are bigger and harder to build and have like guns sticking out of everywhere and autokill any units they land on.

8 - New, harder to build, paint, transport or store Necron monsters

9 - GW announces they have finally run out of Marine ideas to recycle with the publication of Codex Field Police

10 - Something, something squats. And zoats. What do you mean they brought them both back already?!

1. Some usually pretty underwhelming unit in a random not-SM-Codex gets a rules update in the FAQ that is a blatant typo or spelling error to anybody sensible reading it but suddenly makes the unit completely OP RAW. Think of IG conscripts automatically being recycled upon dying at full strength without reinforcement points or the "explode" result on a random vehicle dropping 1D100 mortal wounds on anything on the board.
GW refuses to admit this was just a typo, but doesn't give any explanation for their reasoning either. Half a year later the issue is resolved in a codex without ever mentioning it again. GW ignores or deletes any comment ever made about it on their websites.

2. GW suddenly has a complete codex + full plastic model line for one of the deleted armies (Corsairs, Renegades etc.) in their webshop. In an act of strange marketing strategy this is never advertised or even mentioned, Questions regarding it are ignored. Half a year later (or after a certain number of comments have been reached on the Community Website) the whole line is removed from the shop without a word and never mentioned. The community suffers from a collective case of Mandela Effect wondering if this ever happened or was just a dream/their imagination.

3. (and I somehow really hope this happens): some kind of random pure fun list wins at a big event defying all statistical explanation and throws all armchair tacticians into confusion for months. Just when consensus is reached that this was a strange one in a million event, it happens a second and third time. Lots of win-hungry players with too much money buy the exact same armyconfiguration but the success can never be reproduced again.

There will be an update in all the Eldar Codexes, with these news:
1) Eldar weapons will have rules actually based on their psychic powers.
2) Swooping Hawks will became an effective unit.
3) We will have the Exodite World Codex.

There will be also the new Squat Codex.

EDIT: GW will reveal that the two lost primarchs are actually Gork and Mork!

2) They're squatting the whole AoS-line in favor of bringing back Dreadfleet.

3) Steamforged Games found an angel investor who's given them a blank check to bring back Guild Ball.

4) Asmodee has finally fixed their clownshoe distribution issues! Timely rollout of products to begin in March!

1) GW uses its phenomenal performance on the UK stock market to secure massive loans and money from private investors and buys out Marvel and DC in a massive take-over-bid by GW to rule the world of Geeks. GW rapidly rises to become the Disney of the Geek world.

2) GW introduces a new "demi" Chaos God to 40K called Khornona after Khorne and Nurgles relationship during 2020 goes serious for all of a few seconds.

3) Confrontation gets bought out by someone who actually knows how to run a miniatures business and returns to the market in full strength

To battle against claims that they don't care about Xenos armies, GW releases a new product line of spacefaring Skaven in 2020. Due to an "unfortunate typo," their vehicles' wound counts all have extra zeroes and the space Skaven become the second-most powerful army in the game, beaten out only by highly optimized Iron Hands builds.

18 - New Necron releases:
Metatron, a new Necron lord with an arm-mounted fusion cannon. Optional second build as an artillery piece.
Sonic Wave, Necon lord specializing in communications with a small unit of animal-like messenger drones. Optional build as a Necron communications relay.
Screaming Star, a flying lord accompanied by a new unit "The Seekers". Noted for his tendency to betray others. Optional second build as a flier.

19 - Imperial Knights get a new release as well. Omega Class Supreme Knight with a magma cannon arm and a tank-sized lightning claw. Optional second build as a Death Strike missile base.

20 - new units will have rules allowing them to change builds mid-game during the movement phase. However you'll have to buy two of each unless you're really good with magnets and adding joints.

1. GW bring back the Rough Riders. With fantastic figures and Immune to Overwatch, always hits first, AP -5 power lance they become a popular unit.

2. A Warhammer 40,000 novel is actually good.

3. The Rough Riders go up in points, their abilities become Stratagems and the lance becomes Ap -1, One-use-only. They become an unpopular unit.

4. GW bring back Chainsaw Warrior as part of the specialist games range.

5. GW release the Primaris Crusader - basically a hovering Whirlwind.

6. GW announce the last 25+ years have been a mistake and go back to first edition WH40K (aka Rogue Trader). A million players lose their **** over Turn Rate Ratio.

7. In time for Christmas, the Craftworld Eldar model range is completely revamped with gorgeous new plastic sculpts - except the Avatar which continues as Finecast.

GW will try out new approaches to sell their different ranges to players who normally only play one game system. Coming in 2021: LotR 40,000, Epic Blood Bowl, and Necromunda: Age of Sigmar (NOT a Mordheim reboot).

GW will learn by its past mistakes and it will release the tenth edition of Warhammer 40.000, which will be so perfect that nobody will have reason to complaint and/or try to create his own rules.

GW brings back "unending waves", a 0 CP strategy that allows you to refill guard or tyranid troop squads and redeploy them within 6" of the depleted squad. Necrons are "too tough" to get this strategy.

Despite all the flak that GW is (justifiably) receiving, they will probably do a better job in managing Magic: the Gathering than WotC is doing at the moment. So yeah, I'm all in favor of this one!
